Obituaries for June 16, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Edward Gibson
Edward Wayne Gibson, 53, of Duluth,Minn. died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at his residence. He was born to Claudia Rolin and Julius McGhee on February 17, 1951. Gibson was employed by Reach-All in Duluth for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudia Rolin and Julius McGhee, and two brothers, Garland Smith and Jimmy Rolin.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice; daughter, Carrie Gibson; son, Shane and wife Liz Hall; eight sisters, Barbara and husband Terry House, Jackie, Charlotte, Marsha Ann, Rose, Julie, Robyn and Chrissy; two brothers, Jack Allen and Buddy; four grandchildren, Samantha, Cory, Natasha and Kyler, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bruno and Betty Tomesch.
Memorial service will be held at Poarch Creek Stomp Grounds at 10 a.m., Sunday, June 20.
Cremation Society of Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.
Ethel Cole
Mrs. Ethel Cole died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Atmore Community Hospital. Cole was a native of Escambia County, Ala. and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore where she served as a member of the Usher's Board, member of the Sunday School, Trustee Board, Missionary Society and the Decorating Committee. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Cemetery Committee for Atmore, served on the Executive Board for the Atmore Family Life Center and she was the Secretary of the NAACP Group. She was a housewife and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. I. S. Cole; her daughter, Olivia Thompson; her parents, Pearl James and Lula Singleton; five sisters, Corine Singleton, Addie Carvin, Minni Womack, Marie McCullen and Geraldine Crowell and two brothers, James Singleton and Robert Singleton.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley and husband Joseph Turner of San Francisco, Calif., Barbara Cole and husband Kenneth Moore of Cocoa, Fla. and Vivian and husband Tommy Shanklin of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Crimpton and wife Inez Singleton of Eutaw; two sisters-in-law, Darcus Singleton of Pensacola and Willie Singleton of Atmore; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel on Friday. The family hour will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 19, with Dr. A. L. Durant Sr., Eulogist and Rev. Willie Hawthrone officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons, Trustee Board and Usher Board Members. Flower bearers will be the Garden Club, the Usher Board and Trustee members.

Gussie Wilson
Mrs. Gussie Mae Wilson, 88, of Atmore died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at her residence.

Helen Edwards
Mrs. Helen Drury Edwards, 91, of Pensacola, died Saturday, June 12, 2004. Edwards was a native of Flomaton and a resident of Pensacola. She was a member of Flomaton United Methodist Church where she served as Youth Music Director.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Edwards, three brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her son Mike and wife Florence Edwards of Pensacola; a daughter, Judy Edwards Green of Pensacola, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Flomaton Cemetery on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, Alzheimer's Family Services or the Flomaton Cemetery Fund.

Charles Rudolph
Mr. Charles Edward Rudolph, 58, of Baltimore, Md., died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at his residence. Rudolph is formerly of Atmore.

Jimmy Rolin
Jimmy "Chico" Rolin, 41, of Duluth,Minn. died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Miller Dwan Medical Center. He was born to J.B. and Claudia (Gibson) Rolin on October 22, 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Claudia Rolin; brother, Garland Rolin, and brother-in-law, Devery Copeland.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three children, Heather, Joshua and Ashley; granddaughter, Nakeya; sister, Barbara and husband Terry House; brother, Edward and wife Alice Gibson; special niece and nephew, Carrie and Shane Gibson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald and Paulette Winberg, and many other family, friends, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Poarch Creek Stomp Grounds at 10 a.m., Sunday, June 20.

Martha Troutman
Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Reaves Troutman, 89, of Robinsonville, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her residence. She was born to the late John Thomas and Carlie Davison Reaves on September 22, 1914, in Natches. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dud Troutman and her son, Dudley Troutman.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte and husband Jim Miller of Robinsonville; a daughter-in-law, Ann Troutman of Robinsonville; four grandchildren, Hope Zeanah of Elberta, Martha Ann and husband Keel Yim of Calif., Russell Miller of Gulf Shores and Todd Troutman of Robinsonville; three great-grandchildren, Holly Raley of Auburn, Rex Raley of Gulf Shores and John Keel Yim of Calif.
Funeral services were held at Robinsonville Baptist Church on Tuesday, with Rev. Mike McMorris officiating. Burial took place at Robinsonville Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to have donations made to the Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery, In Care of Dot Reaves, 4922 Robinsonville Road, Atmore.

Miles Bridgman
Miles Brandon Bridgman, 16, of Atmore, died Saturday, June 12, 2004. He was born to William Cobb and Sally Barnett Bridgman on March 18, 1988 in Montgomery. Bridgman was a student at Escambia Academy.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Sally Bridgman of Atmore; his paternal grandfather, Richard Miles Bridgman of Montgomery; his girlfriend, Jessica; his cousin, Matthew and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m., Wednesday with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial will take place at New Bethlehem Cemetery at Barnett Cross Roads.
Active pallbearers are, Matthew Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Robert Rigby, Eric Fulmer, Ashley Chandler and J.J. Brown.

William Garrett Sr.
Mr. William "Byrd" Garrett Sr., 72, died Friday, June 11, 2004 in Bratt. Mr. Garrett was a native of Bluff Springs, Fla., a former resident of Pensacola for 30 years and a resident of Bratt for the past 30 years. He attended Calvary Deliverance Temple and was a heavy equipment operator all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Gilley Garrett of Bratt; six sons, Michael Garrett, Larry Garrett, James Garrett and Charles Garrett all of Bratt, Danny Garrett of Pensacola and Ricky Garrett of Century; three daughters, Ann McCarthy of Cincinnati, Ohio and Karen Davis and Pansy Miliam both of Bratt; a brother, Junior Garrett of Palaka, Fla.; four sisters, Lottie Hastings of Pensacola, Martha Sims and Duffie Wells both of Century and Louise Dockens of Bratt, 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Deliverance Church on Sunday, with Rev. Paul Enfinger officiating. Burial took place at Godwin Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glenn Simmons, Scotti Garrett, Sammy Macks, Billy Davis, Ronnie Milam and Tony Stewart.
