Registration for the 2nd session of swimming/tennis lessons at Tom Byrne Park Pool will be at 5:00 PM at the Tom Byrne Park Pool. For additional information, call 368-8280 during pool hours of 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM and/or 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Registration for the Atmore Blue All Star Cheerleaders will be held at Escambia County High School from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $40.00. They are only signing up 25 cheerleaders ages 5-14. For more information contact LaShonda Marshall at 368-4865 or Cherryl Everett at 446-3770.

"How to List Historic Properties" will be the topic of the Escambia County (Al) Historical Society meeting. Mrs. Dorothy Walker and Ms. Christy Anderson from The Alabama Historical Commission will discuss the Alabama and the National Historic Register process. The public is invited to attend the 3 p.m. meeting at the Thomas E. McMillan Museum, located in the Fine Arts Center on the JDCC Campus in Brewton.

Northview High School Sports Booster Club meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the weight room.

The BIA- Rosenwald- Union High School National Alumni Association, Inc. will hold its16th annual session at the Baptist Center on Clausell Road in Monroeville. Alumni will gather Friday evening 7-9 p.m. for fellowship and renewal. The National Board will meet at l0:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Annual Luncheon will follow the Board Meeting at 11:00 a.m. Alumni and friends are invited to share the luncheon program. Lupus Support Group will not meet in July, due to the Independence Day holiday. The next meeting will be August 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Education Center of D. W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. For more information contact Marcia De Graaf at 809-8309.

Hepatitis Support Group, Hepatitis Is Living Life (H.I.L.L.), is meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Strandell Conference Room of D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton. The Youth Police Academy will be held on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College and will begin on Monday, July 19th and will conclude on Friday, July 23rd.
Applications can be picked up at the Escambia County Sheriff's Office in Brewton or it can be mailed to you. Just contact Captain Chuck McMullen of the Sheriff's Office at 809-2151 or Officer Clair Sanborn of the Brewton Police Department at 867-3212 and an application package can be mailed right away.
The cost of the Youth Police Academy is $175.00. This fee covers the cost of lodging, food, training materials, Academy T-shirts, certificates, graduation banquet and other expenses. A $75 deposit is required at the time the application is received and the remainder due at check-in. There are still a few available positions for youth to participate in this summer's class.
July 24
The Open Buddy bass tournament will be held from safelight to 3 p.m. at Isaac Creek Landing, located at the Claiborne Lock and dam on the Alabama River. Registration forms are available from Donnie Gibson or at Paul's Tackle Box and must be turned in by 4:30 a.m. the day of the tournament. Registration is $80, which includes a $10 lunker pot.
