Atmore's architects for the city's new senior's center released an artist's rendering of the proposed building Monday.
The SAIL Center is expected to feature a metal roof, covered entrance and a covered back loading area for the Meals on Wheels program to load and unload food.
The current design proposal features more than 5,000 square feet of interior space, a covered porch area and 56 parking spaces.
The site plan was approved by the Atmore planning board last week. The center will soon go before the Atmore zoning board for approval.
Engineering and site planning are still being developed for the building, but it is expected the building will largely look like the rendering above.
The new SAIL Center will be located at the corner of Ridgley Street and Liberty Street behind Atmore City Hall.
The building will replace the SAIL Center's current home, an aging armory on Ridgley Street. The new building will be slightly larger and better equipped than the current building.
