Obituaries for June 30, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Alvin Sinquefield
Mr. Alvin "Bill" Sinquefield, 83, of Atmore, died.
Sinquefield was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church where he served in various capacities in the church and was retired from Monsanto (now known as Solutia) in Pensacola. He served his tour in Korea with the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sinquefield; mother, Alberta Sinquefield, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Bernice Sinquefield of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Glendolyn Sinquefield and Elaine Moore of Lansing, Mich. and Patricia Nolen of Detroit; one son, Alvin Sinquefield Jr. of Detroit; two adopted children, Alvino and Brenda Sinquefield of Atmore and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atmore on Monday, June 28, with Rev. Freddie Banks officiating. Burial took place at Fairview Cemetery.
Braxton Williams
Infant Braxton Tremayne Williams of Atmore, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Paulette Robinson and great-grandparents, Cleve and Kitty Williams and Rev. Lee Bonnie and Esterline Williams.
He is survived by his father, Maurice Williams; mother, Takiyah Williams both of Atmore; two brothers, Maurice Williams II and Kaelan Williams both of Pensacola; one sister, Shemiah Williams of Atlanta; grandparents, Lula and Clarence Harris of Pensacola and three grandfathers, Al Young of Los Angeles, Calif., Joe Robinson of Stockton and James Bishop of Bay Minette.
A graveside service was held at Stallworth Cemetery on Monday, June 28 with Dr. Hattie Bishop officiating.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Parker
Clarence Parker, 78, of White House Fork Community of Bay Minette, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at his residence. He was the owner and operator of Parker's Chevron Service Station for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Davis Parker of White House Fork; one son, Joseph "Joe" L. Parker of Bay Minette; one daughter, Martha "Marty" Parker of Foley; six brothers, Alex Hadley of Escatauba, Miss., Nip Hadley of Perdido, Hamilton "Buddy" Hadley of Bay Minette, Winston Hadley of Mobile, Pete Hadley of Perdido and John Arthur Hadley of Mobile; two sisters, Merle Stewart of Perdido and Patricia Talmadge of Atmore and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Norris Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 with Reverend Dan Byrd and Reverend Michael McRae officiating. Burial will take place at Bay Minette Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gather Middleton, Bo Presley, Alfred Wallace, Alton Wallace, Spud Powe and Lance Jones.

Gladys Walker
Mrs. Gladys M. Walker, 80, of Oak Grove, Fla., died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in Pensacola.
She was born to the late Ludie and Mae Stanford Gann on October 8, 1923 in Beaverton.
She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, a music director for 46 years, a Sunday school teacher for 48 years, a church clerk for 42 years and a retired teacher with the Escambia County Florida School, where she taught for 42 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arnold Gann.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James B. Walker; a son, Sam and wife Vivian Walker; two grandsons, Scott Walker and Brandon Walker all of Oak Grove; three brothers, Garl Gann of Forestdale, Leon Gann of Hamilton and Bob Gann of Beaverton and three sisters, Ruby L. Cook of Fultondale, Dorothy Blakeney of Birmingham and Olene Tyler of Fultondale.
Funeral services were held at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday June 29, with Bro. Roy Chewning officiating. Burial took place at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were, George Carpenter, A.J. Hudson, Calvin McCall, Billy Darby, Doug Godwin and Kennetth Bryan.

John Horton
Mr. John "Bill" Horton died on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Metro East in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born to the late Ralph and Lula Horton in Whatley on March 8, 1949.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Lee Horton.
He is survived by three children, Theaya and husband, Antonio McGrew, Carl and wife Sherry Brooks and John Horton all of Mobile; five sisters, Ora Nee Welch, Gussie Ree Horton, Jeannie McGinnis, all of Frisco City, Ruby Burrell and Ralphy Jenkins, both of Cleveland; three brothers, Robert Horton of Atmore, Charlie Horton and Marshall Horton both of Frisco City; one great-uncle, Marshall Horn of Whatley; cousin, Odell Glenn of Cleveland and three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at Indian Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, June 26, with Rev. Johnny Lynum officiating. Burial took place at Indian Ridge Church Cemetery.
