Gertrude Cruit Bradford
Mrs. Gertrude Cruit Bradford, 84, of Atmore, died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at her residence.
She was born January 4, 1920 in Escambia County to the late John Lee and Pearlie Vickery Cruit. She was a long time member of Brooks Memorial Church and a member of Esther Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee C. Bradford, three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by one sister, Inez Peacock of Enterprise; three nephews Rodney Cruit, Don Peacock and Gordon Coley and four neices, Willonese Gren, Janice Dyal, Rebecca Brunner and Linda Hollon.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, August 11 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Don Peacock, Rodney Cruit, Gordon Coley, Tim Curenton, Gary Hare and Bryan Peacock. Honorary pallbearers will be the Esther Sunday school class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Brooks Memorial Baptist Church building fund.

Bernice Mae Emmons
Mrs. Bernice Mae Emmons, 88, died Friday, August 6, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther D. "Big Daddy" Emmons.
She is survived by three daughters, Annette Jones of Century, Fla., Merlene Forbes of Atmore and Bettie Odom of Chicago, Ill.; two sons-in-law, Dale Forbes of Atmore and Jesse Odom of Chicago, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mavis Jean Phillips of Ocean Springs, Miss.
Services were held Monday, August 9 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Stokes officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hare, Russell Lloyd, Greg Forbes, Ty Forbes, Scott Godwin and John Tharp.

Zettie Mae Henderson-Dixon
Mrs. Zettie Mae Henderson-Dixon, 74, of Flomaton, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Jay Hospital in Jay, Fla.
She was a native of Butler County and a resident of Flomaton for many years. She was a member of Fannie Missionary Baptist Church where she was past president of the Missionary Society and a member of the choir. She attended school in Butler County and was a housekeeper and member of the Eastern Star Chapter #13 in Century, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dixon.
She is survived by one daughter, Leslie Jones and husband Morris of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, John Dixon, Sr. and wife Sherry and Derek Dixon and wife Sandra, both of Brewton; four sisters, Annie Crenshaw of Pacoia, Calif., Maggie Henderson of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Gibson and husband Charles of Youngstown, Ohio and Yvonne Boyd of Georgiana; three brothers, Samuel Henderson and wife Peggie of Youngstown, Ohio, Melvin Henderson and wife Diane of Miami, Fla. and Hilson Henderson, Jr. of Miami, Fla., and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with family hour from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 11 at Turner Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12 at Fannie Missionary Baptist Church in Flomaton with Rev. Hiriam T. Stanton officiating. Burial will follow at Fannie/Damascus Cemetery in Flomaton. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Ozell Jackon, Jr.
Mr. Ozell Jackson, Jr., 45, of Escambia County, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Saint Vincents Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born May 11, 1959 in Escambia County to Ozell Jackson, Sr. and Margarette Jackson. He graduated from Escambia County High School, was a member of the US National Guard and became a certified chief in Birmingham for twenty years. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Charlie and Jesse Jackson, Frank Harrison and Alfred and Lucy Dorsey.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Jackson of Birmingham; five children, Nicole, D'Kiliah, Tyneshalyn, D'Kila and Quanjarrius Jackson; one stepson, Quinton Blocker, all of Birmingham; one grandson, Quentzer White of Birmingham; two brothers, Bobby Jackson of Atmore and Tracy Jackson and wife Faye of Inez, Ky.; two sisters, Enga Jackson of Atmore and Lorna Jackson Graves of Hopemills, N.C.; a grandmother, Rosa Harris of Atmore; three aunts, Dora Banks of Milwaukee, Wis., Maggie Harrison of Calif. and Mildred Jackson Shepherd of Atmore; two uncles, Charlie Jackson of Atmore and Robert Jackson and wife Lillie of Oakland, Calif.; two great-uncles, Randolph McPherson of Atmore and J.D. Thomas of Birmingham; three nieces, Takeisha Jackson of Birmingham, TaNesha Jackson of Troy and Tamedren Jackson of Atmore; one nephew, Tyrone Jackson of Troy; one great-nephew, Tyrese Jackson of Birmingham and his mother Patricia Jackson of Troy; devoted friends, Levester Dread of Fairhope, Marlon Slaughter, Carlon Slaughter and Jessica Beckham of Birmingham, Eddie Joe Hayes of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Juanita Thames of Walnut Hill; special families, the Shade Family of Birmingham, the Riley, Dubose, Ikner and Nolen families of Atmore and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church. Funeral services be held at 1:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. Freddie Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Lucious Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Margaret McMillian
Mrs. Margaret McMillian, 92, of Atmore, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Atmore Nursing Care Center.
She was a native of McWilliam and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Greater Triumph Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Lula McMillian.
She is survived by one daughter, Pearlie Mae Shedrone of Atmore; one son, Hugh Montgomery of Colusa, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. August 11, 2004 at Turner Funeral chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Calvin Shedrone officiating. Burial will follow at Stallworth Cemetery.

Phillip Brandon Nall
Mr. Phillip Brandon Nall, 23, of Atmore, died Friday, August 6, 2004, in Auburn.
He was born October 2, 1980 in Pensacola, Fla. to Alvin Donald and Annette Morris Nall. He was a student at Auburn University.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Annette Nall; his grandmother Hattie L. Morris; two brothers, Brad Nall and Matthew Nall of Atmore; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jim Coller officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery in Huxford. Active pallbearers will be first cousins, Roger McGhee, Berry Ross, Colt Morris, Ben Turberville, Wesley Morris, Mack Jr, Morris, David Morris, Nathan Nall, Benny McGhee, Michael Turberville and Courtney Morris.

Zin Nolin
Mr. Zin Nolin, 81, of Flomaton, died Monday, August 9, 2004 in Flomaton.
He was a native of Victoria and a resident of Flomaton for the past 60 years. He was a WW II veteran in the US Navy, owner of Nolin's Refrigeration, retired from the Civil Service at Whiting Field and attended Flomaton First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Merle Nolin of Flomaton; four sons, David Nolin and wife Jo of Flomaton, Douglas Nolin and wife Barbara of Mobile, Steve Nolin and wife Da of Vancouver, Wash. and Kenny Nolin and wife Martha of Baton Rouge, La.; three brothers, A.N. Nolin of Flomaton, Winford Nolin of Boulder, Co. and Dewayne Nolin of Arizona; four sisters Clara Gorum of Pensacola, Jewel Wright of Pensacola, Sylvia Upton of Flomaton and Jeanette Valdesuso of Cadilac, Mich.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Flomaton First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Keese and Rev. Tim McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Gorum, Mark Upton, Dewey Bondurant, Jr., Johnny Harrell, Darryl Fore, Donald Nolin and Ricky Nolin. Honorary pallbearers will be the Baraccas Sunday school class.

Ray Edward Peacock
Mr. Ray Edward Peacock, 75, of Atmore, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at his residence.
He was born May 2, 1929 in Escambia County to the late Charles James and Annie Stuart Peacock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. Peacock.
He is survived by two sons, Allen Peacock and wife Suzanne of Atmore and Archie Peacock and wife Paula of Monroeville; one daughter, Diane Johnson of Atmore; one brother, Charles Peacock of Bay Minette; two sisters Audrey Bishop of Silver Hill and Betty Lawson of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 10 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating.

Sallie M. Presley
Mrs. Sallie M. Presley, 85, of Perdido, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at a local hospital.
She was a member of the Pleasant Plains Pentacostal Holiness Church where she and her husband spent many years in the singing ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, David "Doc" Presley, and a son, Franklin Presley.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Presley of Bay Minette, Wayne Presley of Lottie and Donald Presley of Perdido; one sister, Annie T. McGill of Perdido; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Sunday, August 8 at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James Peacock, Sister Thursia Long and Bro. Angelo Thomley officiating. Burial followed at the Presley Cemetery in Lottie.

Louise Quimby Doherty
Mrs. Louise Quimby Doherty, 76, died July 29, 2004.
She was a long-time resident of Mobile, retired from her career as a registered nurse after 36 years. For the past 5 years, she lived with her son's family in Nashville, Colorado Springs, and San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Doherty; parents, Ola and Palmer Quimby; brothers, Owen and Gilbert Quimby.
She is survived by a son, Baron Herdelin-Doherty and wife Lisa, of Boerne, Texas; grandson, Ethan Doherty, of Boerne, Texas; brother, Hybart Quimby, of Mobile; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.Wed nesday, August 11, at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The YMCA of Greater San Antonio, 1123 Navarro, San Antonio, TX 78205.
John N. Robinson
Mr. John N. Robinson, 87, of Fairhope, died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at a local nursing facility.
He was a native of Atmore and a resident of Fairhope for 64 years. He was employed by the Alabama Shipyard in Mobile, the Fairhope Ice &creamery, and was director of the Young street Recreation Center. He operated several rental properties and was the founder of the Baldwin Male Chorus and was a member of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Fairhope. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ida Robinson, four sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Robinson; two daughters, Flora Gray and husband Jake of sulligent and Mary Miller of Boston, Mass.; one sister, Alice Salter of Atmore; three granddaughters, Denise Dupree and husband Kenneth of Birmingham, Veronica Jackson and husband Charles of Montgomery and Miranda Gray of Birmingham; two sisters-in-law, Climmey Lindsey and Josephine Robinson, both of Atmore; a godson, Lionel Williams and wife Bessie of Forestville, Md.; two adopted daughters, Mary Houlsen and Josephine Gaines and husband Booker; a niece, Dr. dorothy Harris of Savannah, Ga. and a host of gandchildren. great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, August 7 at Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. James C. Taylor officiating.

Lucile Hardy Zeringue
Mrs. Lucile Hardy Zeringue, 81, of Thibodaux, La., died Friday, July 30, 2004.
She was born November 11, 1922 to Joseph Hardy and Hattie Phillips Hardy and was a native of Atmore. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Desi Ray Zeringue, and a brother, Lamar Hardy.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Allemand; three brothers, Lovie Hardy, Leslie Hardy and Leonard Hardy; six sisters, Sarah H. Coon, Betty Drew Singleton, Letitia Phillips, Linda Garrick, Lois Hall and Barbara Hardy; three grandchildren, Desi A. Shaver, Brandon LaRobe and Candice Parfait, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 2 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux, La. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.
