Obituaries for August 18, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Philip Brandon Nall
Mr. Philip Brandon Nall, 23, of Atmore, died Friday, August 6, 2004, in Auburn.
He was born October 2, 1980 in Pensacola, Fla. to Alvin Donald and Annette Morris Nall. He was a student at Auburn University.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Annette Nall; his grandmother Hattie L. Morris; two brothers, Brad Nall and Matthew Nall of Atmore; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jim Colley and Bro. Leo Kent officiating. Burial followed in Sardis Cemetery in Huxford.
Active pallbearers were first cousins; Roger McGhee, Berry Ross, Colt Morris, Wesley Morris, Ben Turberville and James A. Bagwell.
Honorary pallbearers were uncles and cousins; Mack Morris, Benny A. McGhee, Mack Jr. Morris, David Morris, Nathan Nall, Stephen Nall, Michael Turberville, David Moore and Courtney Morris.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arangements.
Audrey Powell
Ms. Audrey Hadley Powell, 65, died Friday, August 13, 2004, in a Louisiana hospital.
Ms. Powell was a native of Perdido, and a resident of Metairie, La. for the past 39 years. She attended the Holiness Church.
Surviving is her son, William D. and wife Angela Powell of Metairie, La.; two grandchildren, Sean Robinson Powell and Ryan Joseph Powell, both of Metairie, La.; two brotherss, Jacob Hadley and Tuney Hadley, both of Perdido; two sisters, Dorothy Bryars of Perdido, and Horothy Buck of White House Fork; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, at 11 a.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Thursia Long and Bro. James Peacock officiating. Burial followed at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Doris F. Zangas
Mrs. Doris F. Zangas, 75, died Friday, August 13, 2004 in Atmore.
Mrs. Zangas was a native of Brownwood, Texas, and a resident of Atmore since 1953. She was an ordained minister and a dedicated church worker and attended Friendly Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Reid, and a brother, Earl Reid.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Louis Zangas of Atmore; her mother, Elsie Anderson of Brownwood, Texas; her son, Larry Zangas of Flomaton; two daughters, Kathryn Adams of Atmore and Brenda Starks of Coffeeville; two brothers, Artie Reid of Brekenridge, Texas, and Don Reid of Brownwood, Texas; a sister Betty Kay of Brownwood, Texas, six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Johnson and Rev. Butch Starks officiating. Burial followed at Little Rock Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Mike Gantt, Larry Cox, Brian Starks, Rex Baggett, Marty Reid and Phillip Zangas.

Laura E. Nelson
Mrs. Laura E. Nelson, 68, of Atmore, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, at her residence.
She was a homemaker, born in Little Rock Dec. 22, 1935 to the late Hybard and Bessie Gilmore English.
Surviving are her husband, Billy S. Nelson of Atmore; one son, Sam Nelson of Lake Charles, La.; one daughter, Alison Robinson of Atmore; one sister, Amyrillis Davis of Atmore; five grandchildren, Justin Robinson, Pierce Robinson, Snap Nelson, David Nelson and Phillip Nelson.
Services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Bro. jerry Kaylor and Bro. Wesley Channell officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family received friends Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Mike West, Joe Webb, Robert Johnson, Bobby Davis, I.G. Nichols and Glenn Jernigan.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Pete Alford
Mr. J.B. "Pete" Alford, 79, of Perdido, died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Alford was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Vera Pearl Jackson Alford, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Thursia Long and Bro. Malcom Harrelson officiating. Burial followed in the Bryars-McGill cemetery in Perdido.
The family received friends Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the pallbearers were Archie Jackson, C.P. Hall, Timmy Jackson, Danny Jackson, Ronnie Jackson and Steve Dannley.
