Mr. Alton Eugene Sells
Mr. Alton Eugene "Bookie" Sells, 37, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in Poarch, AL. Mr. Sells was a native and lifetime resident of Poarch and attended the Poarch Community Church. Survivors include his Father, Garvis Sells of Poarch; his mother, Catharine Sells of Poarch; a Sister, April Sells of Poarch; his Grandmother, Mable Jackson of Poarch; and a number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Cheramie officiating. Burial will follow at the Judson/Creek Indian Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2004 between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eddie Jackson, Don Jackson, Ronnie Jackson, Julius Sells, Jerry Sells and Tony Sells.

Mr. Thomas Rex Pickens III
Mr. Thomas Rex Pickens III, (Tommy) died Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at home in Collirene. He is survived by his son Thomas Rex IV, of McComb, MS; his parents, Thomas Rex, Jr., and Rebecca Spivey Pickens, of Collirene; One sister, Elizabeth Pickens Nelson (Steve) of Brewton, and one brother, Carrington Allen Pickens of Atmore. He was the grandson of the late Elizabeth Lyon and Thomas Rex Pickens, Sr. of Collirene and Elizabeth Whitman and Allen Wood Spivey, Sr. of Tyler. He is also survived by three faithful and beloved friends Lucy Middleton, Annie Maxwell and Natalie Rush. A descendant of early Alabama pioneers and an eighth generation of Lowndes County, Tommy was known throughout the Southeast as a Tennessee Walking Horse Trainer, a career that began as a child in Atmore, Alabama. The body will lie in repose at the family's ancestral home one hour prior to the burial. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 at the cemetery behind the home place. Travis Barnes, M.R. Bradley and Elwood Sims will officiate, In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Cahaba Hospice, 410 Church Street, Selma, Alabama 36701 or Benton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bettie Etheridge
Mrs. Bettie Etheridge died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the age of 84 in the Indian Hills Nursing and Health Center. She was a native of Camden, AL and a resident of Cleveland, Ohio for 5 years before that she lived in Atmore, AL. She attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Velma Woods and her son Felix Etheridge. She is survived by four sons Charlie Etheridge of East Cleveland, Ohio, Tommy Etheridge of Euclid, Ohio, Robert Etheridge and William Etheridge of Cleveland, Ohio, and seven daughters Willa Mae Thompson, Dora Mae Marshall, Emma Wilson, and Bettie Lee Etheridge of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Ellis of Phoenix, AR, Louise Etheridge and Annie Brazzell of Atmore, AL. Two sisters Velma Mae Fuller and Frances Cook. Forty-six grandchildren, ninety-one great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are Monday, September 13, 2004 at 1:00p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Atmore, AL with Bishop Charlie Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow at Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore, AL. Visitation will be Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Robert Bowen died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the age of 70. He is from Atmore, AL.
