Richard America, Jr.
Mr. Richard America, Jr. died September 10, 2004 at the Atmore Nursing Home at 6:45 a.m. following a long illness. He was a native of Wilcox County and a resident of Atmore. He was preceded in death by his father Mr. Richard America Sr. In 1956, Richard began his employment at Monsanto Chemical Plant after 35 years of services he retired September 1991 and was awarded for his perfect attendance. He is survived by his loving wife, Rhuetelia R. America; two sons: Staff Sergeant Richard Jason (Danyell) America III of Fort Riley, Kansas; and Correctional Officer Ronald America, Atmore; A very devoted mother, Mrs. Lillian A. Golden of Atmore; three brothers: Mr. William (Pauline) America of Atmore, Mr. Henry E. (Georgia) America Mobile, Mr. Sam (Francina) America Mobile; one sister, Mrs. Maggie (RC.) McMillan, Mobile; four-half siblings: Delois A. Rogers; Vernnell (Anthony) Ward of Atmore; Fonda L. Poellnite, Mobile; Alice Sanders Brooklyn, New York, two step brothers: Mr. Frank Golden, Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Robert (C. Ann) Golden Deaver, Colo.; one step sister, Mrs. Bessie Eilks, Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Ricoya Jete, Jalen, Rickeea Janyell; four step grandsons: Jason, Randy, Jacob and Reggie; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, namely one special friend. Mr. Hoover Brown. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 1:00p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Sanders Edwards, Jr. officiating.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Earnestine Knight, 88 of Atmore will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 11:00a.m. at Union Street Church of Christ Atmore. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Public viewing will be Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Turner Funeral Chapel.

Mr. James Lee Leslie, 52 of Atmore died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Service Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church at 2:00p.m.

Mr. Herbert Dozier, 59 of Atmore died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Holman Prison. Burial is Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Fountain Cemetery.

Mr. Richard Odom, 81 of Flomaton died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at D. W. McMillian Hospital. Services to be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Lonzie Lee McCall, 74 of Atmore died Friday, September 17, 2004 at Atmore Nursing Care Center. Services to be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.

Myrtle Gladys Hayles
Mrs. Myrtle Gladys Hayles, age 80 of Bay Minette died Thursday, September 16, 2004 in Atmore. She was a retired school bus driver with Monroe County School systems.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Marvin W. Hayles, Sr. and a Daughter, Mary Ashcraft Moye. Survivors are: Three Sons: Henry Hayles &wife, Donna of Birmingham, Lee Hayles of Bay Minette, Marvin Hayles, Jr. &wife, Margaret of Bay Minette. Two Daughters: Pat Singleton &husband, Barney. Jean Trawick and husband, Marion all of Atmore. Two Brothers: James C. Madison of Gulf Shores and John D. Madison of Pensacola, Fl. Three Sisters: Bessie Jean Dourogh of Bishop, TX. Martha Mann of Mary Ester, Fl. Betty Jean Madison of Corpis Christy, TX. Seven Grandchildren and Seven great-grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday September 22,2004 at 1 PM from the Uriah United Methodist Church, with Bro. Jesse K. Lough officiating. Interment will follow in Uriah City Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Wednesday September 22,2004 at the Uriah United Methodist Church from 12 Noon until service time.

Mr. William Gordon Kirksey
Mr. William Gordon " Bill" Kirksey, 72 passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 in Atmore. He was a native of Pensacola, FL and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. He was retired from VF after 32 years. He was an avid fisherman and attended the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Judy Kirksey of Atmore. Two sons Mickey Kirksey of Lynn Haven, FL and Tommy Kirksey of Pensacola. Two brothers Red Kirksey and Jack Kirksey, both of Pensacola. One sister Nona Tisdale of Pensacola, FL and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Klondike Cemetery in Pensacola, FL with Rev. Josh Wallhofer officiating and Eastside Chapel Funeral Home Directing.
