Atmore's mayor and city council took the oath of office Monday night for a return to their elected posts.
Howard Shell, John Watkins, Louie Turner III, Webb Nall, John Garrard and Jim Staff all won reelection during the city elections in August.
The mayor and council members were sworn in by Judge Brogden while an audience of about 60 people looked on.
In addition to the swearing in ceremony, the council approved a set of ordinances for the coming four years.
Bert Rice was reappointed as the city's judge. Council meeting times and dates were set, and will be the same as the previous four years, the second and fourth Monday of the month at 4p.m.
Rules of procedure for council meetings were adopted.
Shell was reappointed as the city's utilities superintendent.
City officers and employees were retained from the previous administration.
A portion of the mayor's compensation was deferred to a retirement plan.
The city's bank depositories were reaffirmed.
Agenda rules and procedures for council meetings were reaffirmed.
Watkins was reappointed as mayor pro temp.
The night had an added touch to it, as it was Turner's birthday. Employees at Turner Funeral Chapel and friends turned out to host a small party in Turner's honor at the city's auditorium.
The mayor and council members thanked their supporters and said they looked forward to moving the city forward in the future.
