Homecoming was not a pleasant experience for the Northview Chiefs Friday night. In what will probably be the last home game of the Chief's Ivan shortened season, the Chiefs lost 34-7 to the Catholic Crusaders.
Northview had trouble stopping the Chief's offense most of the night. The Crusaders used a combination of short passes and draw plays to keep the Chiefs on their heels Friday night.
Deonta Davison saved a Catholic score early with an interception in the endzone, but the Chiefs were forced to three and out.
Northview again intercepted a Catholic pass but gave the ball right back with Jeremy Greenwell throwing an interception of his own for the Chiefs.
Catholic couldn't do much and went up 3-0 on a field goal.
Northview was forced into a three downs and out, and Catholic drove down to score again, making the score 10-0.
The Chiefs were unable to unlock the Catholic defense and after another punt, the Crusaders drove for another score, going up 17-0 on the Chiefs.
The Crusaders would score twice more before halftime, building an insurmountable 31-0 halftime lead and putting a damper on the Chief's homecoming.
The Chiefs looked to have some more life in the third quarter with a Greenwell to Nakita Myles touchdown reception on a third and 19 play.
The Crusaders put their offense on cruise control the rest of the night, adding a field goal making the score 34-7, and the Chief offense was unable to add any more points. Victory escaped the Chiefs, 34-7.
