Obituaries for October 20, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Sherman Garfield Wilson
Mr. Sherman Garfield Wilson died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the age of 85 in Atmore.
He was a native of Perdue Hill and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. He attended the Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a Wife, Gaynell Wilson; a Stepson, Ed Chancey; a Great-Granddaughter, Mikasa Cheyenne Groover; eight Brothers and one Sister.
Survivors include his Wife, Martha McGhee Wilson of Atmore; a Stepson, Bill Chancey of Bay Minette; two Daughters, Leola E. Wilson and husband, Buddy of Atmore and Shirley G. Roberts and husband, Lewis of Cave City, AR; seven Stepchildren; nine Grandchildren, John S. Groover, Teresa D. Groover, Ben M. Coyle, II, Philip Roberts, Wesley Chancey, Russell Chancey, Laura Chancey, Margaret Chancey and Allen Chancey; 10 Step-Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 21, at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Coleman Pilot officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Pallbearers will be John S. Groover, Ben M. Coye, II, Ronnie Baggett, Rodger Miller, Steve Wilson and Dwight Wilson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 20, from 6PM until 9PM at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert F. "Coach" Mosby
Mr. Robert F. "Coach" Mosby died Monday, October 11, 2004 at the age of 81 at his residence in Anniston, AL.
He was a resident of resident of Atmore for a few years and of Anniston for over 49 years. He was a retired educator having taught at Escambia County Training School located in Atmore before going to the Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston where he worked as an athletic director/coach before becoming assistant principal at the Junior High School. He attended Haven United Methodist Church teaching Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Men and the church Administrative Board. He was a 55 year member of the Omega Phi Psi Fraternity, Inc where he served as the President and Vice President. He graduated high school in Versailles, KY and was a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville and Columbia University in New York City. Prior to attending college he served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, C.B. and Willie Mae Mosby.
Survivors include his Wife, Carrie Mosby of Anniston, AL; one Daughter, LaJoy Yvette Mosby of Columbia, MD; one Son, Robert Mosby and Wife, Gayle of Atlanta, GA; his twin Brother, George S. Mosby and Wife, Lucille of Atmore;
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 12 a.m. at Haven United Methodist Church in Anniston with Rev. Curtis Johnson, Pastor and Rev. Watt T. Washington officiating.
Burial followed at Edgemont Cemetery in Anniston.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
