Estes Taylor
Mr. Estes "Buck" Taylor, 79, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2004 at a Pensacola, FL hospital.
Mr. Taylor was a native of McLain, MS and a resident of Flomaton for the past 35 years. He attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include: five Sons, Ronald Taylor of Columbia, MS, Richard Taylor of Hattisburg, MS, Joseph Smith of Flomaton, Jeffery Taylor of Flomaton, and Michael Taylor of Flomaton; two Daughters, Geraldine Turnage of Columbia, MS and Kay Fillmore of Flomaton; 16 Grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 18, 2004 at 10:00a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 18, 2004 at 4:00p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Steve Ross, Bubba Pridgen, Shane Booth, Scotty Waller, Jack Green and Curtis Moye.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John Raymond McElhaney
John Raymond McElhaney, 88, of Cantonment, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2004 in Pensacola. He was retired from St. Regis Papermill and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cantonment.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Walter and Althenie McElbaney; and two brothers, Aubrey and Buck McElhaney.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cora McElhaney; two sons, Raymond (Clara) McElhaney, Johnny (Nell) McElhaney; one daughter, Evelyn (Roy) Clark; one brother, Cecil McElhaney; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 18, at Faith Chapel North with his son, Raymond Thomas McElhaney and Rev. John Smith, II officiating, Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class and other friends.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 1000 Highway 29, Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.
Essie Thames
Mrs. Essie Thames, 96, of Atmore, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2004 at her residence. She was a native of Monroe County a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church in Freemanville. She served in the Senior Choir and taught Sunday School class #2 and as president of the Missionary Society. She was a member of the Good Will chapter #845 of the Eastern Stars in Freemanville.
Mrs. Thames is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Mamie Kelly, her husband Clyde Thames, Sr., and two sons Clyde Thames, Jr. and Grover Thames.
Mrs. Thames is survived by two daughters Voncile (Fred) Smith of Elizabethtown, KY and Lois (Rev. Eugene) Burton of Silver Spring, Maryland; Three sons Johnnie (Louise) Thames of Washington, D.C., Charlie (Merion) Thames of New Carrolton, Maryland and Winston (Angela) Thames of Silver Springs, Maryland; one sister Lelo Reese of Panama City, FL and one brother Clarence (Odessa) Kelly of Atmore.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 11:00a.m. at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church in Freemanville with Rev. Eugene Burton officiating. Burial to follow at Rabb Cemetery in Atmore.

Catherine Robertson Moore
Mrs. Catherine "Kitti" Robertson Moore, 77, passed away Friday, October 22, 2004 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Pensacola and a resident of Bluff Springs, FL for the past 52 years. She was a proud, caring and devoted nurse for 36 years, having worked at Turberville Hospital, County Hospital in Century and Northview Community in Pensacola, while attending the Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her Husband, Paul W. Moore of Century; three Sons, Ronnie Moore of Baker, FL, Paul Alga Moore and William Keith Moore, both of Bluff Springs, FL; her Daughter Catherine Marie Moore Hendricks of Pensacola; a Brother, William Martin "Buddy" Roberson of Pensacola; ten Grandchildren, Jason B. Moore, Mikie Sowers, Casey Pritchett, Clay Moore, Jessica Lankton, Ashley Williams, Joseph Moore, Chloe Hendricks, Rylan Hendricks and Addison. Hendricks, and three Great-Grandchildren, Dillon Pritchett, Jacob Sowers and Nicholas Sowers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 24, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Weaver officiating.
Burial will follow at Crary memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 23, 2004 between 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her Sons and Grandson, Ronnie Moore, Paul Moore, Keith Moore, Jason Moore, Clay Moore add Joseph Moore.

Carl Hubert Brown, Jr.
Mr. Carl Hubert Brown, Jr. age 67 of Atmore died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 In Atmore, He was a retired from the U.S, Army after serving 20 years on active duty, from March 1954 through September 1974. His service included 13 years in Special forces with several tours in Vietnam. His awards included the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Two Purple Hearts and the Masters Parachute Badge. After retiring from the Army he worked a number of years with Brown and Root in Saudi Arabia and worked off Shore with John F. Graham and Sons retiring as Captain.
He was born in Repton to the late Carl Hubert and Misseye McIntyre Brown, Sr. on March 2,1937.
He Is preceded in death by a Sister, Joyce Brown Tubbs and Two Nephews, James Scholl and Randy Ross,
Survivors are Three Sisters: Helen B. Ross, Hazel B. Hall, and Nelda Grace Brown all of Atmore. Nieces and Nephews: Ronnie Ross and wife, Marcella. Linda Jones and Husband, Terry. Cathy Phillips and Husband, Mike. Don Schell all of Atmore, Richard Ross of Albany, GA Denise Quintanille Edmondson and Husband Mark of Austin, TX. Patty McKinley and Husband, Greg of Lottie, Al. Angie Schell of Mobile and Valerie George of SanFrisco, CA, Numerous Relatives and Friends.
Services will be Friday October 22,2004 at 11:00a.m. from the JohnsonQuimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton, Speakers, Harold Jacobson and Ron Wingo. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Active Pallbearers, the Special Force Team, Rodney Flack, Ronald Wingo, Harold Jacobson, Albert Rivers, Robert Johansen and Lowell Stevens. Honorary Pallbearers: Leroy Cobb, Britt Hendrix, Ronnie Ross, Don Schell, Richard Ross and John Perkins.

Paralee Jefferson Cox
Mrs. Paralee Jefferson Cox died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the age of 82.
She was a native of Atmore and a resident of both Bay Minette and Tucson, AZ. She moved back to Bay Minette after the death of her husband where she was an active member of St. Agatha Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Willie E. Cox, Sr., one Son, Willie E. Cox Jr. and her Parents, James and Ella Jefferson.
Survivors include one Son, James C. Cox and wife, Arlivia of Bay Minette; Daughter-in -law, Dorothy Riggs Cox of Atlanta, GA; eight Grandchildren, Christopher D. Cox of Atlanta, GA, Wanda C. Cox, James Anderson, Linda McGruder, Anthony Cox of Los Angeles, CA, Darrell Cox of Hawaii, Michael and Curtis Anderson of Chicago, IL; Brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Nettie Cox of Tucson, AZ; devoted Friend, Ms. Betty Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Agatha Catholic Church with Father Jim Dane, Celebrant.
Burial followed at Mutual Aid Cemetery in Bay Minette.
Pallbearers were Chris Cox, Anthony Cox, Arnold Cox, Steve Jefferson, Jr., Henry Jefferson, Jr. and Donald Jefferson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Brown, Herbert Ellis, Faron L. Hollinger, Harry Shiver, Richard Smith, Jerome Watson, James D. Williams, Johnny Cabaniss, Ben Harris, Fred D. Primm, Jr., Joe Smith, Ben Watson, Sam Watson and members of the Atmore Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Mertice Ellen (Gray) Scogin
Mrs. Mertice Ellen (Gray) Scogin died Friday, October 22, 2004 at the age of 89 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
She was a native of Moose, AL, and a long time resident of Bay Minette. She was a homemaker and member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her Husband, George McLeod Scogin and one Grandson, William O. "Little Billy" Scogin.
Survivors include two Sons, George W. Scogin and wife, Pat of Atmore and William O. Scogin and wife, JoAnne of Bay Minette; three Sisters, Lucy Ruth Salters of Excel, AL, Lagatha Hogheins and Cora Ida Donaldson both of Mobile; nine Grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel W. Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Goins, Mike Scogin, Thomas Long, Steve Hetrick, Stephen Hetrick and Clinton Burt.
Visitation was held Saturday, October 23, from 6PM until 9PM at Norris Funeral Home.

Thelma Woods Sierra
Mrs. Thelma Woods Sierra died Thursday, October 21, 2004 at the age of 80 in Amore.
She was a waitress born in Atmore on February 26, 1924, to the late George and Ollie Mae Payne Woods. She is preceded in death by a Son, Bobby Joe Gray.
Survivors include two Grandchildren, Bobby Joe Gray, Jr., of Atmore; Dawn Michelle Gray O'Conner of Dallas, TX; Seven Sisters, Ruby Lambert of Atmore, Louise Jernigan of Molino, Ann Dunn of Pennsylvania, Estelle Parker of Columbia, SC, Mary Willis of Alexandria, Va Freddie Pezent of Jackson, AL and Hazel Mason of Evergreen; numerous Relatives and Friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. C.L. Langford officiating.
Burial followed at Mothershed Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, October 22, from 5:30 PM until 8:00PM at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Inez Kyser Riley
Ms. Inez Kyser Riley formerly of Atmore, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the age of 83 in Grayson, GA.

Michael Elliot Leff
Mr. Michael Elliot Leff died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the age of 44 at a local Baldwin County hospital.
He was owner of Allied Broadcast Communications of Fairhope. He was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Daphne, active in the Elks Lodge #1871 of Fairhope as well as the American Legion Post #199. He was founder of the Elks Youth Fishing tournament.
Survivors include his Wife, Lori DuBose Leff; three Sons, Jeremy Michael Leff of Auburn, Robert Dubose Leff and Riley Prince Leff of Fairhope; two Daughters, Jennifer Melissa Leff and Jessica Lynn Leff of Tallahassee, FL; his Mother, Rev. Sandra Crow (Charles) Mayer of Atmore; his Father, Gerald Elliott Leff of Fairhope; his Brother, David Wayne Leff and wife, Tonya of Theodore; his Grandmother, Mrs. Nadine Crow of Mobile; two Aunts, Judy Crow Sherman of Daphne and Cynthia Shortridge and Husband, Wayne of Jacksonville, FL; two Uncles, Allen Robert Crow of Mobile and Jay Larry Leff of Ellisville, MS as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 22, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 21, from 5PM until 8PM at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home.
Donations can be made to the Huxford Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Mr. J.D. Womack.
