Dorothy Darby Reaves
Dorothy Derby Reaves, 63, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Atmore.
She was a homemaker born in Uriah, Ala., on Mar. 13, 1941 to the late George Washington and Fannie Mae Manning Darby and was a resident of Atmore.
Survivors are her husband, William "Bill" Reaves of Atmore; two daughters, Patricia Reeve Brown and husband, Rodney " Shorty" of Robertsdale, Ala., and Kathy Reaves Swift and husband, John of Atmore; one sister, Annette Hassebrock and husband Herman of Bratt; four brothers, Jack Darby and wife, Sherri of Atmore, Ralph Darby and wife, Katie of Davisville, Billy Darby and wife, Jackie of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Alfred Darby and wife, Opal of Dothan, Ala.; two grandchildren Kyle Lynn Brown and Chivas Thompson and wife, Lauren; one great-grandchild Samuel Reaves Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Dewitt Allen officiating.
Interment followed in Robinsonville Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Jean Lufkin
Jean Lufkin, 76, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at her residence.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore. She taught school in Escambia and Baldwin County for 24 years. She attended Hunington College, Auburn University and Troy University.
Surviviors include her husband, Jack Curtis Lufkin; three daughters, Lyn Lufkin Stuart and husband, George of Bay Minette, Pat Lufkin of Atmore and Buffy Lufkin Tucker and husband, Tim of Uriah; one brother, J.P. Farish III of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Tucker Stuart, Shepard Stuart, Kelly Stuart, Jake Tucker and Clay Tucker.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Atmore with Dr. Douglas Newton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 from 1:00 P.M. until service time in the church fellowship hall.

Edward (Babe) Straughn Robinson
Edward (Babe) Straughn Robinson, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at his residence.
He was a retired tire dealer in Atmore and a member of both the American Legion Post 90 and a member of the Presley Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother, Henderson Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine Roberts Robinson; one daughter, Teresa "Terri" Kay Robinson of Atmore; one brother, James E. Robinson of Atmore; two sisters-in-law, Robbie Lee Betterton of Milton, Fla. and Linda P. Robinson of Atmore; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Harp officiating.
Burial followed in the Oakhill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Robinson, Earl Fore, Oscar Matheny, Robert Fillmore, Curtis Fayard and Ken Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were James Burkett, Robert Jones, Leo Luker, Sr., Jerry Mason, Hugo Mixen and Joe Walker.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Joe McMillian
Joe McMillian, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Camden, Ala. and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and of Masonic Lodge, Good Hope Lodge #152. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in Atmore, class of 1965. He worked as a Masonary instructor at Jefferson Davis Community College in Atmore and was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Lee Kate McMillian.
Survivors include his wife, Doris J. McMillian of Atmore; two daughters, Shanta Bowen of Miami, Fla. and Harlisha Martin of Laurel, Md.; three sons, Mitchell Sigler of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Fredrick Martin and Micheal Martin of Atmore; six sisters, Rosie Lee Frierson and Bertha Cage of Muskegon, Mich., Belinda Gross of Lemon Grove, Calif., Brenda DeSilver of Manitee, Calif., Ann Clausell of Seattle, Wash. and Aleen Saunders of Harrisburgh, Pa.; four brothers, Lindsay Gary of Phoenix, Ariz., Micheal Gary of Vale, Austria, Larry Gary of Vancouver, Wash. and Joe Black of Seattle, Wash.; 18 grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Chuch with Rev. W.J. Hawthorne, Rev. Joe Hayes, pastor of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and Rev.Ywell Cunningham, pastor of Bethel Baptist in Monroeville officiating.
Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Turner Funeral Chapel from 1:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.

Marqutte A. Gill
Marqutte A. Gill, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in Perdido.
She was a native of Rabun, Ala., and a resident of Bay Minette for most of her life. She was a hard dedicated worker at the New Testament Church and for the community. A former employee of Manor Slacks and Vanity Fair, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Gill.
Survivors include three sons, Houston and Montez Gill of Rabun, Charles Terry and Gail Gill of Dyas and Bryan and Beth Gill of Rabun; three daughters, Jeanetteand Earl Ray Bryars of Rabun, Margaret Ann and Carl Stewart of Rabun and JoAnn and Larry DeWise of Megargel; one brother, Ben and Margaret Andrews, Jr., of Mobile; one sister, Marie R. Jordan of Rabun; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Wilson officiating.
Burial followed in Bryars-McGill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Keith Bryars, Timothy Bryars, Jason Bryars, Chris Gill, Kevin Gill, Steven Aplin, Charlie Stewart and Brady Gill.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Carney Lyons
Carney Lyons, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Atmore and resident of Memphis, Tenn., for many years. He was affiliated with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis and was a retired foreman for LTV Steel Company.
Survivors include his wife, Ossie Lyons of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Regina Stewart of Ft. Worth, Texas; Dorothy King of Chicago, Ill., and Barbara Thomas of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Mable Parker of Chicago, Ill., Vivian Patton, of Port St. Joe, Bertha McMillian of Mobile and Joyce Lamar of Atmore; one brother, Cheser Lyons of Atmore; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn.
Burial followed at West Tennessee National Cemetery.

Ann W. Powe
Ann W. Powe, 66, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at a Mobile hospital.
She was of Huxford and was a retired US Post Master with her parents being Joesph and Enda Walding. she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Powe and one infant son.
Survivors include one son, Kippy Powe of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Patti Ann Powe of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Nancy Jo and Tronie Richardson of Atmore; one sister, Elouise Strange of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Donald Walding of Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Rebecca Richardson.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Otis Thames officiating.
Burial followed in the Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.

William Adam Kennedy
Infant William Adam Kennedy died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at a Pensacola hospital.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dean Kennedy; and great-grandparents, Bill Thortis, Ruth Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Early Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Harless.
Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Kelly Kennedy of Mexia; his grandparents, Thomas and Ellen Kennedy of Franklin and Robert and Diann Stewart of Bratt; his great-grandparents, Estelle Thortis of Christian Home, Fla. and Jack Stewart of Bratt; a brother, Tanner Kennedy of Excel; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Oct. 27, 2004, at 10:00 A.M. at Christian Home Cemetery with Rev. Homer Stewart officiating.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Ebnacer Marshall of Walnut Hill, 62, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
