Obituaries for November 10, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Andrew Leon Kizer Sr.
Andrew Leon Kizer, Sr., age 48, of Birmingham, died November 7, 2004. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Oliver Kizer. Survivors include his wife, Leisa Sewell; sons, Andrew Leon, Jr. and Brian Keith; daughters, Amanda Louise and Casey Nicole; mother, Audrey Kate Kizer; brother, Foster Kizer, 3 sisters Audrey Louise Arguilez, Carolyn Everette and her husband Grover, Frances Hartzog and her husband Delane; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2004, at 11a.m. at Southern Heritage Chapel with burial to follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Big Oak Ranch of Springville, AL.
Southern Heritage Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie B. Kirkland
Marjorie B. Kirkland, age 83 of Atmore died Saturday Nov. 6,2004 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She was a manager of Golden Rib BBQ, born in Monroe County, Ala. on May 18,1921 to the late McDuffie and Lillie Mosley Ward.
She is preceded in death by her husband Horace Norman Kirkland, a son Horace Ray Kirkland, one brother, McDavid Ward and two sisters Jewell Jones and Edna Earl Ward.
Survivors are a son McRonald "Mack" Kirkland and wife, Shirley of Shalimar, Fla. Ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Numerous other relative and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 10,2004 at 11a.m. from Brooks Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Wednesday morning Nov. 10,2004 at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church from 10a.m. until service time.

Jane Ramsey Turner
Jane Ramsey Turner, age 84 of Atmore died Monday, Nov. 8,2004 in Brewton, Ala. She was retired from H&R Block, born in Sellerburg, Indiana on October 16,1918 to the late Hugh Liviey and Lillian Coyle Ramsey. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Turner and one sister, Alice R. Mayson.
Survivors are three sisters Helen Ramsy Lumpkin, Roberta Holloway and Ruth Ramsey Allen all of Atmore, Ala. Two nephews Hugh Allen and Phillip R. Allen. Numerous Cousins.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at 2:00p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 10,2004 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00p.m. until service time.

Willie C. Smith
Willie C. Smith, age 59 of Atmore died Friday, Nov. 5,2004 at Atmore Nursing Care Center. Services to be announced by the Turner Funeral Chapel.
France Elizabeth Milstead
Frances Elizabeth Milstead Hanks, age 72 died Friday, Nov. 5,2004 at Pensacola Hospital.
Hanks leaves a legacy of love for her children, grandchildren, and many special friends. She especially loved spending time with her beloved sister, Helen and her special pets, Babe and Cody, and she enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was a native of Oak Grove, FL and a resident of Bratt since 1980 and attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her Husband, Oliver Marshall Hanks of Bratt; her Son, and Daughter-in-law, Michael and Gayle Hanks of Atmore, three Daughters, Frances Kay Hanks of Pensacola, Betsy and Will Perkins of Oak Grove and Amy and Richard Caum of Molino; her Brother, Howard Milstead of Bratt; three Sisters, Yvonne Coon of Oak Grove, Helen Haddock of Oak Grove, and JoAnn White of Tallahassee; six Grandchildren, Tabitha and Mason Frazier of Birmingham, Cory Hanks of Tuscaloosa, Sara Perkins of Ft. Walton, Dale and Jenni Perkins of Pensacola, Marshall Caum of Molino and Lennie Caum of Molino; and one Great-Grandchild, Olivia Frazier.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 8, 2004 at 10:00a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Chewning and Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7, 2004 between 6:00 and 9:00p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Cory Hanks, Dale Perkins, Marshall Caum, Mason Frazier, Travis Johnson, and Steven MacKendrec.

Alfred Amos White
Mr. Alfred Amos White, age 88, a native and resident of White House Fork Community of Bay Minette, AL died Sunday, November 7, 2004 at his residence. He was retired from International Paper Company Bag Mill. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498 F.&A.M.
He is survived by his Wife, Verba (Middleton) White of White House Fork; Son, Gary White of White House Fork; two Daughters, Sandra White Rollin of Atmore, Alabama, and Diane White Donald of White House Fork; sister, Vlema Johnson of White House Fork; eight Grandchildren; and 9 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his Brother, John Joe White; and two Sisters, Flora Virginia White, and Verna Mae Long.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the White House Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Edson Drew officiating. Interment will follow at White House Fork Baptist Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 9, 2004 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Masonic services will be rendered at the graveside by Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498 F.&A.M.
Pallbearers will be Jason White, Brian White, Shane Rollin, Jeff Donald, Warren Donald, and Josh Brown.

John Elton Davis
Mr. John Elton "Shorty" Davis age 77 of Davisville, Florida died Saturday November 6, 2004 at his Daughter's home in Cantonment, Florida. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Company. Mr. Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 12, 1927 to the late Joseph Lee and Myrtle Merritt Davis.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Ruth Davis. Survivors are: Son, Tony Davis and Wife, Gina of Orange Park, Florida; three Daughters, Linda Parslow and husband, Barent of Staunton, VA; Sue Parker and husband, Mickey of Atmore, AL, Connie Lewis of Cantonment, FL; Brother, Joseph Colvin Davis of Bratt, FL; and Sister, Carolyn Steele of Pensacola, FL; seven Grandchildren: DeAnna Escoban, David Parslow, Margaret Swisher, Amanda Parker, Justin Davis, Cody Davis and Kaitlyn Lewis; and one great grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 10:00a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle and Bro. Jesse Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery.

Woodrow McCorvey
Woodrow McCorvey, 87, or Atmore, AL passed into life eternal November 6, 2004 at the William Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette. The second child of the late Mr. &Mrs. Simp (Mary) McCorvey of Tunnel Springs, AL was born on Christmas Day 1917 in Monroe County, AL. As the oldest son of seven children, Mr. Woodrow McCorvey was named in honor of the 28th President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson who was an educator by profession.
He became the principal of Wilson Hall High School and later became the principal of Escambia County Training School and then the principal of Escambia County Middle School. Together, he was an educator in Escambia County for 36 years until retirement in 1984.
McCorvey worked another 16 years as a salesman for ATCO Manufacturing Company of Marietta, GA. Professor McCorvey leaves cherishing his life, Wife, Dorothy L. McCorvey; two sons, Woodrow (Ann) McCorvey, Assistant Head Coach of Mississippi State University at Starkville, and Orlando (LaSylvia) McCorvey of Atmore; two daughters, DeMarius Lynne McCorvey, Pensacola, FL., and Rhonda Michelle McCorvey, Pascagoula, MS; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; three surviving brothers and many neices, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
Funeral services will be held at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore, Nov. 12, 2004 at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
Public viewing will be held Nov. 11 from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.
The family requests that former students who sing assemble one hour prior to the funeral service to sing all familiar hymns for the service.
Requested attire is black and gold for the student body choir and the choir will be directed by Mr. W.J. Grissett.
