Two unexpected deaths shook the Atmore community this week.
On Thursday, Rite-Aid pharmacy tech Marilyn Burston died after suddenly taking ill the previous Sunday. She was 42 years old and an 18-year employee of the company.
Much loved by customers and employees alike, Burston's death came as a shock and surprise. "She could remember everyone by name," said pharmacy Robbie Drummond. "Many customers have told us it was hard to come in the store this week without her here."
Burston leaves one daughter, Ashley Burston, and a husband, Arthur Burston. "She was a very special person," Drummond said. "She was a sweet Christian lady."
On Sunday, Jason Caraway died in a four-wheeler accident around the Nokomis area. Caraway was 30 years old and the owner of his own construction company, Cornerstone Construction. He was a native of Atmore and a 1992 graduate of Escambia County High School.
Burston's funeral will be this afternoon at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore.
Caraway's funeral will be this morning at 11 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center.
He leaves his wife, Sharon Ash Caraway and a daughter, Ashlianne Caraway.
Memorial trust funds have been established for both families.
