Obituaries for January 5, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Douglas Gordon Minchew
Mr. Douglas Gordon "Doug" Minchew, 43, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 in Davisville, Fla.
Mr. Minchew was a native of Foley, AL, a former resident of Flomaton, and a resident of Davisville for the past 39 years. He was in the recycling business for the past 20 years, very creative in Art, Hair, Flower Arranging and Poetry. He was a 1980 graduate of Ernest Ward High School and attended Jeff Davis Jr. College on an Art Scholarship.
Survivors, include, his Parents, L.B. and Tinie Minchew of Davisville; his Brother, Danny and Lavine Minchew of Booneville; four Sisters, Glenda and Darryl Bankston Adams of Davisville, Ruthie and Billy Dunn of Atmore, Dorothy and Billy Martin of Davisville, and Natalie Minchew of Davisville; and a number of Nieces and Nephews, and Great-Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastside Chapel
Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Enfinger officiating.
Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Wyncie Smith
Mr. Wyncie "Wimp" Smith, 52, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at his residence. He was a native and resident of Atmore. He was a member and Deacon at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church. He worked as a Brick Mason. Served in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1976.
Survivors include wife Bernice Smith of Atmore, three daughters Melanie Smith of Baltimore, MD, Melinda Johnson and Debra Sauls both of Atmore; one son Wyncie Smith, Jr.; His parents Anna R. Smith and Earnest Smith of Atmore; four brothers Glen Ross Smith of Denver, Colo., Charles Leonard Smith of Tenn., Willie "Sonny" Smith of Atmore, Robert Smith of Los Angles; five sisters Doris Bradley of Texas, Elouise Spruiel of Colorado Springs, Colo., Glady Cobbs of Baltimore, MD., Mary Whiting Johnson and Ann Anderson both of Atmore, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Atmore with Freddie Banks officiating.
Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 between 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Turner Funeral Chapel.

Ray Alan Moore
Ray Alan Moore, 71, of Atmore died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 in Mobile. He was retired from Monsanto with Quality Control. Born in Alabama on July 27, 1933 to the late Raymond and Mary Jo Carlisle Moore. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore and owned and managed Treasure Forest in Baldwin County, AL.
Survivors are his wife, Elouise Greer Moore of Atmore; two sons Dr. Alan Moore, Jr. and wife Alison of Fairhope, Al and Dr, Tommy Moore and wife Laurie of Atmore. One daughter Ann Stephens and husband Fred of Atmore; One brother Robert "Buddy" Moore of Anniston, AL; one sister Diane Daniels of Leesburg, Ga; Six grandchildren: Ross Alan Moore, Mandy Prewett and husband Rusty, Shelby Moore, Thomas Moore, Sarah Stephens and Murray Stephens.
Services were Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at 3 P.M. from the First United Methodist Church on Jan. 2, 2005 Sunday from 2 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the United Methodist Church Children's Home. 311 S. Pensacola Ave., Atmore, Al 36502.

Eric Carlton Lambert
Eric Carlton "Pee Wee" Lambert, 47, of Atmore died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Montgomery, AL and a resident of Atmore, AL for many years.
He worked as a welder.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Ransom Lambert, Jr. and Ida Pearl Lambert.
He is survived by 2 sisters Shasta Powers and Shaquita Lambert both of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with Rev. Joe L. Hayes officiating.
Burial to follow at Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Turner Funeral Chapel.

John Lee Downing
Mr. John Lee Downing, age 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 in a Bay Minette veterans healthcare facility.
Mr. Downing was born in Montgomery, AL and was a longtime resident of Brewton. He graduated with honors from Auburn University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Downing retired as a Major in the U.S. Air force, serving in the European Theater during World War II. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Brewton.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hermine Downing of Brewton; a stepson, Travis Holzborn of Spanish Fort; two step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Gary Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery.
Pallbearers: John Anthony Downing, Wiley W. Downing, III, Wiley W. Downing, IV, D.J. Downing, Travis Holzborn, and Fred Nordmeyer.
Visitation will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
