In a match up of the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Alabama Independent School Association, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars were weighed, measured and found wanting.
Faith Academy rolled to victory 61-39 Tuesday night, despite a 23-20 halftime deficit in a loss that EA coach Heath Gibson called "very disappointing".
Faith Academy's Gerica Johnson led all scorers with 24 points followed closely by teammate Tiffany Sanders with 20. The duo combined to outscore EA as a whole.
Lori Bonds finished with 14 points and Kaylee Castleberry added 12 to lead all scorers for the Lady Cougars.
Coach Gibson was proud of his team's effort, but obviously disappointed with the results.
"We certainly wanted to win," he said. "Sometimes the chips don't fall your way. We probably played our best first half of the season, but then things went cold in the second half and they got hot."
Gibson added things very easily could have gone differently.
"Obviously we had the lead at halftime and then we just couldn't hit our shots," he said. "They just got hot and made plays at the right time."
