Minnie Lois Garrett
Walnut Hill – Mrs. Minnie Lois Garrett, age 66, passed away Monday, January 24 in Pensacola. She was a homemaker and a native of Atmore.
She is survived by one son, Larry Condrey and his wife, Susan, of Walnut Hill; three grandchildren, J.W., Amanda, and Ashley; and her special friend, Hubert Bryars of Walnut Hill.
Services were held Wednesday, January 26 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Gibson officiating. Graveside services followed in Pine Barren Cemetery in Davisville, Fla. The family received friends Tuesday, January 25 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
James Richard Dole
Century – Mr. James Richard "Dickie" Dole, age 69, passed away Tuesday, February 1 at a Florida Hospital.
Mr. Dole was a native and lifelong resident of Century, a member of the Century Historical Society, an employee at Stanton's of Century from 1953 until 1990, a meat cutter for B&J Meat Company at Byrneville for 15 years and an avid Century Black Cat fan. He attended the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Dole of Century; his son, Kenny Davis of Bay Minette; his daughter, Carrie Bryan of Byrneville; his mother, Eva Dole of Century; a brother, Billy Dole of Century, a sister, Myra Jean Steadham of Atmore; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 3 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shelton Kindig and the Rev. Brad Johnson officiating. Graveside services followed at Godwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Thomas Adams, Jerry Simmons, Jerry Fisher, Eric Steadham, Arlin Lavins, and Ron Gilley.
Honorary pallbearers were David Earl and Ronnie Gilley.
Samuel Wilson Milstead
McDavid, Fla. – Samuel Wilson Milstead, age 77, passed away on Tuesday February 1. Mr. Milstead was a native of Oak Grove, Fla. and a lifelong resident of McDavid. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a wonderful neighbor. He loved fishing, was an avid gardener, and attended the Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, James and Alan Milstead of McDavid; his daughter, Linda Dawson of Pensacola; his sister, Luvon Mize of Port St. Joe, Fla.; three grandchildren, April Deck of Pensacola, and Travis and Walyon Milstead of McDavid; and four great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Destiny, Ariel, and Cherish, all of Pensacola.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 5 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. William Chancery officiating.
Graveside services followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dudley Milstead, Jr., Ricky Milstead, Dennis Griffis, Kenny Peterson, Lee Marvin Jernigan, and Bryan Troy Ard.
Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Robbings, D.C. Diamond, Winston Brown, John Henry Malone, and Leo Maher.
Dorothy LaVerne Warren
Soso, Miss. – Mrs. Dorothy LaVerne Warren, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, February 2 at her residence.
She was born in Escambia County, Ala. in 1945. After marrying, she moved to Soso where she resided for 32 years.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Ray Warren of Soso; her mother, Aggidean B. Dagen; two sisters, Janice Parker of Walnut Hill and Rita Bolton of Austin, Tex.; five children, Eddie Warren of Laural, Miss., Susan Warren Powell of Philadelphia, Miss., Scott Warren of Petal, Miss., Brett Dagen of Walnut Hill, and Bruce Dagen of Centerville, Kent.; thirteen grandchildren, Christy Warren, Stephanie Stringer, Misty Warren, Betsy Powell, Anna Powell, Jason Hutchinson, Aaron Hutchinson, Elizabeth Warren, Joshua Dagen, Taryn Dagen, Taylor Wright, Robert Dagen, and Christopher Dagen; she was also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 5 at West Laurel United Methodist Church. Graveside services followed in Union Line Cemetery in Jones Co., Miss. The Rev. Roy Pearson and the Rev. Ed Bullock officiating.
Pallbearers were Joshua Dagen, Aaron Dagen, Aaron Hutchinson, Andy Cannon, David Knight, and Nathan Quimby. Honorary pallbearers were Chance Massingill and Billy Ray Williams.
Visitation was held Friday, February 4 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Miss.

William H. Corley
Walnut Hill – Mr. William H. Corley, age 85, passed away Friday, February 4 at his residence. He was retired from the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. He was a native of Canoe, and proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Lexington and the U.S.S. Yorktown, and has been active in his community for many years. He was a life long member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by four daughters, Marsha L. Green of Walnut Hill, Margaret M. Jackson of Youngville, La., Patricia S. Dortch of Bratt, and Beverly J. Corley of Boca Raton, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Duff of Pensacola; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Chewning and Bro. James Boyd officiating. Graveside services will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday, Feb. 5 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
