Dr. William C. Robbins, Sr.
Evergreen – Dr. William C. Robbins, Sr., age 92, passed away Friday, February 11 in a local nursing facility in Brewton after a brief illness. He was a native and longtime resident of Texas before moving to Evergreen in 1999.
He is survived by one son, Dr. William C. Robbins, Jr. of Evergreen; one daughter, Carolyn R. Rutledge of Clarkston, Ga.; one sister, Bobbie Reese, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; seven grandchildren and eleven grandchildren.
Dr. Robbins was a former pastor and minister of education and served on church staffs across Texas, including Sherman, Texas City, Bay City, Victoria, and Summer. He was a member of the faculty and coaching staff at Huron College in Huron, S.D. from 1964-67. From 1967-1981 he served as professor of psychology and as the director of counseling and dean of the School of Social Sciences at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.
Dr. Robbins earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary, and a master's degree and a doctoral degree in psychology from the University of North Texas.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 13 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton. A second visitation was held on Tuesday, February 15 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 16 at 10 a.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas with Dallas Huston officiating.

James Henry Capers
CASTLEBERRY – James Henry Capers, Sr., 53, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3 in Evergreen.
Mr. Capers was a native and former resident of Atmore and a resident of Castleberry for the past year. He was an avid fisherman, a loving person, attended the holiness church and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emily Capers.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, four sons; James, Curtis, Samuel and Jerry, a stepson and daughter-in-law Chris and Becky Weaver of Brewton, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Capers officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. until funeral time at Eastside Chapel Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Curtis E. Capers, Richard Capers, Henry Capers, Curtis M. Capers, Timothy Wayne Capers and Vincent Lambert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Burgans, Chris Weaver and Roland King.
