The Atmore Police Department is still investigating a robbery that occurred early Monday morning.
According to a press release issued by the APD, an unidentified male entered the Exxon Station located on South Main Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. and demanded the clerk at gunpoint to hand over the cash drawer's money. The teller fully cooperated and handed over an undetermined amount of money to the pistol-toting bandit, who was wearing a stocking-type mask to hide his identity.
After leaving the service station, the robber fled on foot. The Alabama Department of Corrections' tracking dogs were dispatched to scene. The K-9's tracked the suspect to the parking lot across the street, but the tracks ended.
The store clerk was unharmed in the robbery.
Attempts to contact APD Chief Jason Dean were unsuccessful at press time.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact the Atmore Police Department at 368-9141.
