Larry Jackson
Poarch – Mr. Larry Jackson, age 58, passed away Friday, February 18 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Jackson was a native and lifetime resident of Poarch and attended the Pentecostal Church. He was the first Tribal Police Officer hired and was employed for 19 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army between 1966-69.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Jackson of Poarch; his mother, Mrs. Mable Jackson of Poarch; a son, Larry William Jackson of Poarch; a stepson, Charles Waters of Bratt; two daughters, Theresa Jackson of Poarch and Travy Jackson of McCullough; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Solaas of Fritch, Texas; three brothers, Ronnie Jackson of Poarch, Don Jackson of Brewton, and Eddie Jackson of Poarch; a sister, Catherine Sells of Poarch; 14 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 21 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Cheramie and the Rev. Jean Brown officiating. Graveside services followed at Judson/Creek Indian Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Weaver, William Rolin, Rex Baggett, Brad Rowell, Ray Farmer, and Darrell Ledkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Dean, John Fields, Stan Stuart, Larry Hammonds, Lois Hebert, Ronnie Freeman, Woodrow Stewart, Brian McGill, Randolph Lambert, Tommy America, Grover Smith, Wade Smith, and Charlie Rutherford.
Elias Ocean Johnson
Atmore – Master Elias Ocean Johnson, age six months, passed away Sunday, February 20 at his residence.
He is survived by his parents, Chris and Dana Garner Johnson; maternal grandparents, Eileen Petrilli of Seemsville, Pa., and Andy Garner of Tucson, Ariz.; his paternal grandparents, Edward Lagos of Pensacola and Eylene Pack of Walnut Hill; god parents Joan Hackman of Atmore and Margaret Waters of Montgomery; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 24 at 11 a.m. from the Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elias Ocean Johnson Memorial Fund c/o the Trinity Episcopal Church, 203 S. Carney Street, Atmore, Ala. 36502.

Lavada Thompson
Atmore – Mrs. Lavada Thompson, age 88, passed away Monday, February 21 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Nokomis, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and attended the Protestant Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Rolin of Atmore; a brother, Dewey Payne of Atmore; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 22 at the Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Ray Ward and Bro. Earl Harrison officiating.
Pallbearers were Danny Rolin, Brandon Rolin, Nicholas Rolin, MIchael Bailey, Richard Hughes, and Randy Rolin.
Sheila Carolyn Davis
Atmore – Mrs. Sheila Carolyn Davis, age 71, passed away Sunday, February 20 in Atmore.
Mrs. Davis was a native of Rayville, La., and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, enjoyed flowers and gardening, and attended the West Side Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Glen Davis of Bayou La Batre, La.; two daughters, Diane Sanders of Atmore and Debbie Angeles of Pensacola; five grandchildren, Shannon Dockens, Cissy Pittman, Chad Sanders, Brad Sanders, and Angelica Seagle; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jeanette Stewart of Bay Minette, Voncille Gainey of Stockton, and Claudia Dawson of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gladden Mothershed officiating. Graveside services will follow at Pine Level Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday, February 22 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Betty Augusta Blackburn
Atmore – Mrs. Betty Augusta Blackburn, age 81, passed away Monday, February 21 in Atmore. She was a homemaker and a native of Monroe County.
She is survived by three sons, Donnie Blackburn of Little River, Ala., Billy Blackburn of Atmore, and Larry Blackburn of Mobile; one stepson, Norval Blackburn of Mobile; three daughters, Jean Allred of Prattville, Ala., Brenda Saders of Pensacola, and Linda Ward of Atmore; a special daughter-in-law, Wanda Blackburn of Bay Minette; two sisters, Lillian Johnson of Atmore and Eunice Fuller of Munson, Fla.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 24 at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 23 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
