Edna Moore Garrett
BLUFF SPRINGS, Fla. – Mrs. Edna Moore Garrett, 74, passed away March 7 at a Pensacola Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 10 at the Crary Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Weaver officiating and Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Garrett was a native and lifelong resident of Bluff Springs, Fla. and attended Grace Baptist Church. Her husband, Clarence Earl Garrett Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include five sons, Joe Garrett of Bluff Springs; Earl Garrett, Steven Garrett and Jasper Garrett, all of Flomaton and Tom Garrett of Bluff Springs; four daughters, Susan Lowery of Jay, Fla., Merle Odom of Bluff Springs, Sherry Holley of Petrey and Lisa Sessions of Mobile; three brothers, Johnny Moore of Little Rock Ark., Pete Moore of Bluff Springs and Kemp Moore of Byrneville; three sisters, Helen McCraney of Bluff Springs, Hazel Boyoraski of Chattahoochee, Fla. and Margaret Creamer of Byrneville; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on March 9 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Meredith Walter Lavender
ATMORE – Mr. Meredith Walter Lavender, 82, passed away March 7 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on March 10 from Walnut Hill Mennonite Church with Bro. Carlos Koehn and Bro. Donald Seiler officiating. Graveside services will follow in Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lavender was born in Edmore, Mich. on March 2, 1923 to the late Walter and Blanche Croft Lavender. He was retired as a Dairy Chemist from Michigan State University. He was a member of Day Bethel Baptist Church in Edmore.
Survivors include his wife, Betty M. Lavender of Atmore; son, Darrell (Kathi) Lavender of Harbor Springs, Mich.; two grandsons, Connor and Parker Lavender; two brothers, Lloyd Lavender and Walter B. Lavender both of Edmore and one sister, LaVonne Lavender of Elmore.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. March 9 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Jesse Majors Williams
SPANISH FORT – Mr. Jesse Majors Williams, 82, passed away March 5 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 12 at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with Elder Leroy Knight Sr. officiating. Graveside services will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
Mrs. Williams' father, John Williams, mother, Rebecca Williams and wife, Olivett Williams, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Lockett of Pensacola, Fla. and Bettye Bishop of Hartford, Conn.; son, Charles Williams of Spanish Fort; two brothers, Ezell Williams and Willie L. Williams both of Atmore; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on March 11 at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Sam Williams
BAY MINETTE – Funeral services for Mr. Sam Williams, 80, of Bay Minette will be held at noon on March 12 at Mt. Nebo Church in Latham. Public viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on March 11 at the Turner Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow.
Katrina Flowers
ATMORE – Funeral services for Ms. Katrina Flowers, 22, of Atmore will be held at 2 p.m. on March 13 at Gaines Chapel in Atmore. Public viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on March 12 at Turner Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Bettie Rembert
ATMORE – Bettie Rembert, 76, passed away March 4 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Funeral services and viewing will be held on March 10 at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m.
Ruth Phillips
ATMORE – Mrs. Ruth Phillips, 65, passed away March 3 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 11 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Atmore with Bishop Charlie Etheridge officiating. Graveside services will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Camden and homemaker. Her father, William Howard, and twin sister, Ruby Brown, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Mattie Hawkins of Atmore; three daughters, Joann Brown, Sharv Watson and Theresa Phillips all of Atmore; five sons, Glen Brown, Ronnie Brown, Quinn Phillips and Shon Phillips all of Atmore and Todd Phillips of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Rosie Dailey and Marie North both of Atmore, Katie Hall of Detroit, Mich. and Evon Hawkins of Dayton, Ohio; five brothers, Luck Jr. Brown, Climmie Brown and Aubrey Brown all of Atmore, J.C. Brown of Fort Meyers, Fla. and Dan Smith of Selma; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on March 10 at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Maude Louise Barbarow
BAY MINETTE – Mrs. Maude Louise (Mothershed) Barbarow, 85, passed away March 4 at North Baldwin Infirmary. Funeral services were held March 7 at Perdido Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Soesbee officiating. Graveside services followed in Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Barbarow was born in Mobile and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her son, Gene Franklin Barbarow, and her husband, William Vincent Barbarow.
Survivors include, two sons, Clyde Vincent Barbarow of Perdido and Charles Wayne Barbarow of Nokomis; five daughters, Dorothy Lou Abrams of Canoe, Patricia Ann Novak, Tuscon, Ariz., Shirley Mae Albritton of Atmore, Helen Marie Tillery of Bay Minette and Jewel Diana Marshall of Huxford; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin Edmond Mothershed of Roseville, Calif., Charles Franklin Mothershed of Houston, Texas and Howard Mothershed of Mobile and three sisters, Marguerite McBride of Theodore, Peggy Tucker of Houston and Sally Brown of Norfolk, Va.
Active pallbearers were Tracy Edwards, Jamie Boatwright, Kevin Barbarow, Jimmy Jernigan, Brian Albritton, Robbie Boyette and Brian Starks.
Mildred Stuckey Killam
JAY, Fla. – Mildred Stuckey Killam, 81, passed away March 5. Funeral services were held March 7 at Poplar Dell Baptist Church.
Mrs. Killam was born on April 19, 1923 in Byrneville, Fla. She was an active member of Poplar Dell Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She was a devoted wife and mother to six children.
Mrs. Killam's parents, Aubrey and Nancy Stuckey; a granddaughter, Laura Ann Dunn and sisters, Robie Gilmore, Myrie Glass and Evelyn Hinson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Claud H. Killam; three daughters, Shirley Dunn, Diane White and Annette (Ladon) Hall; three sons, Clinton (Ann) Killam, Benny (Debbie) Killam and Dewayne (Audrey) Killam; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons, Jason Killam, Brian Killam, Lucas Killam, Jeremy Hall, Randall White and John Michael Dunn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Poplar Dell Baptist Church.
