Jo Bonner announced Friday, March 11 he would be conducting a series of tours throughout the First Congressional District from March 21 through March 24.
Bonner is scheduled to be in Atmore at City Hall, March 24 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
According to Bonner's press secretary, Matt Rhodes, the congressman returned from Washington a day early and is visiting friends in Alabama.
"The house finished up a day early and he got out [Thursday]," Rhodes said.
Bonner has a tight schedule for those four days which is why each appearance is limited to one hour.
"He's doing four days, he's doing a total of 21 stops for those four days," Rhodes said.
Bonner was scheduled to appear for a transit meeting earlier this year but failed to appear sighting transportation issues.
"There was a plane delay so he wasn't able to come to that," Rhodes said.
According to Rhodes, Bonner looks forward to coming to south Alabama every chance he gets.
"He always does, one thing I've learned about Joe, he says that 99 percent of good ideas on solving problems in this country don't come out of Washington, they come out of these meetings," Rhodes said. "He believes the best way to serve the state is by talking to his constituents,"
Rhodes said that Bonner has particularly enjoyed touring the more rural parts of the state.
"He's particularly enjoyed doing a total of 90 small towns some of which had never seen a congressman," Rhodes said. "Some have seen a congressmen once in 40 years and never again."
In a released Statement Bonner, too stressed how he was looking forward to touring the state.
"I look forward to having the opportunity to travel throughout south Alabama to meet with my constituents," Bonner said. "I certainly hope each of you will find the meeting closest to your home and take the opportunity to come out and discuss issues of concern to you, both here and in Washington."
