The Escambia County Commission reviewed and rejected four bids for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) sewage project in Atmore this week.
All the bids were over budget, with the lowest bid coming in at $40,000 over budget. With a lack of information from the engineering firm, commissioners were forced to disregard the item and consider at another date.
The project would extend the Atmore sewerage system north of town to an area currently not served by a sewerage system. Previously, the commission has secured two similar grants for sewerage in this area.
