Our View
The capitol building and several other buildings in Washington, D.C. were evacuated after a small Cessna accidentally flew off course and into restricted airspace.
A student pilot and his instructor were in charge of the plane. The two were escorted by fighter jets back to an airport and were then immediately taken into custody as if they were criminals.
While the government's quick thinking in this instance had the potential to save hundreds of lives it still seems like too little, too late.
Four large jet planes were able to be used to attack this country and the government was too slow to respond. One tiny airplane, barely within restricted airspace was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
While the actions of the government in this instance were justified they also illustrate a trend in national defense to only be prepared after the fact.
