Trinsic Communication, Inc. employees have been coping with the loss of one of their own that was killed last Friday evening in an automobile accident.
Timothy W. Garrett, 37, of Pensacola was killed after the 1997 Lexus driven by Kevin E. Smith, 33, of Flomaton overturned at 9:18 p.m. on Hwy. 98 south of Success Road in Cantonment, Fla.
"Our hearts are deeply saddened at the loss of our co-worker and friend, Tim Garrett," Trinsic director of human resources Denise Stewart said.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, a witness said the vehicle occupied by Garrett and Smith was traveling south on Hwy. 29 and changed directions, crossing the southbound inside lane through the center median and onto the northbound inside lane. The witness said the vehicle changed direction again traveling back through the center median overturning onto the southbound lanes. Both Garrett and Smith were ejected from the vehicle.
Smith was transported by life flight to West Florida Hospital where he was in serious condition. He has since been released.
Garrett worked in Trinsic's corporate training department in Atmore. He was an avid Florida Gator fan and earned his bachelor's of psychology from the University of Florida in 1996. He attended Our Savior Catholic Church and St. Paul Catholic Church.
Smith works in Atmore's customer service department.
Garrett leaves behind his wife, Janet M. Garrett, and their two-year-old daughter, Nina Marie Garrett, and month old son, Quinn Patrick Garrett.
Other survivors include, mother Judy Cote of Pensacola and father, Frank Garrett of Milton; brothers, Tony Garrett of Milton and Thomas Garrett of Pensacola; sister, Beverly Harrelson of Pensacola; mother-in-law, Vilma Molina of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Teresa Shimek and husband Arthur Shimek of Pensacola; brother-in-law, Efrain Molina and wife Beth Molina of Warner-Robbins, GA; aunt and uncle, Dora and Bill Holdsworth of Gainesville, FL; five nieces, Natalie, Rachael, Allie, Corey and Paige; five nephews, Ander, Matthew, Brandon, Tristan and Keir and numerous other family members.
His father-in-law, Efrain Molina, preceded Timothy in death.
A Memorial Mass was held to celebrate Garrett's life at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Savior Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a College Fund for Nina and Quinn at People's First Community Bank, 940 Creighton Road, Pensacola, FL 32504.
