Dorothy Quinley
PENSACOLA – Ms. Dorothy Quinley, 48, formerly of Flomaton, died on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Nelson "Sonny" Bynum
WASHINGTON – Mr. Nelson "Sonny" Bynum, 67, formerly of Atmore, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Washington, D.C.
John D. Stewart
ATMORE – Mr. John D. Stewart, 66, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 in South Baldwin Medical Center.
Mr. Stewart was a native of Perdido, and a resident of Atmore for most of his. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include: his wife, Inez Fordham of Atmore; one daughter, Kathy McKenzie of Franklin; three step-daughters, Patricia Spann of Atmore, Anita Sullivan of McCullough, and Kim Tyree of McCullough; four brothers, L.C. Stewart of Stockton, David Stewart of Perdido, Hannis Mitchem of Perdido; and Andrew Mitchem of Perdido; one sister, Elizabeth Skipper of Huxford; one grandchild, Tina Showers; four step-grandsons; four step-granddaughters; two great grandchildren, Heather Parker and Cordell Parker; three step-great-granddaughters; and five step-great-grandsons.
His mother Cathrine Stewart, his father, T.C. Stewart, a sister, Willie Gibson and a brother, Travis Mitchem, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral home with Rev. C.L. Langford officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Tommie Dew Long
MCDAVID – Mr. Tommie Dew Long, 82, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Century, Fla.
Mr. Long was a resident of McDavid for most of his life. He was a member of Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #351.
Survivors include: his wife, Grace Long of McDavid, Fla.; one son, Jimmy Long (RaeAnne) of Robertsdale; two daughters, Nancy Harris (Ronnie) of Cantonment, Fla., and Christy Hendrix of McDavid, Fla.; two brothers, Westley Long of Pensacola, Fla., George Long of McDavid, Fla.; two sisters, Modell Bryars of Perdido, Sarah Victor of McDavid, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His mother, Mattielou Coleman and his father Dewey Long precede him in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. John Shamblin and R.C. Wiggins officiating. Burial followed at Christian Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lavon Parham, Jimmy Long, Jr, Brad Johnson, James Milstead, Scobbie Lynn Wilcoxson and Scobbie Wilcoxson.
Winston Douglas Beck
MCDAVID – Winston Douglas Beck, 69 of McDavid, Fla., passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2006 in a local hospital. He was born on Jan. 25, 1937 in Pensacola, Fla., and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1976. He has been a resident of Bay Springs for the past 30 years. A daughter, Dina M. Beck and his mother, Hazel G. Spence, precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris M. Beck; children, Aaron D. (Lana) Beck and Deborah Beck (Frank) Talamo, grandchildren, Megan, Becky and Melissa Martin and Joseph (Dana), Daniel and Zachary Talamo; great grandchildren, Adriana and Landen Talamo; and sisters, Inez White, Midge Beck (Bennie) Pugh and Mrs. Jean Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Faith Chapel North with Bro. Ray McCullough, Bro. Joe Gipson and Bro. Kevin Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Baptist Cemetery in Enon, Fla., with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Stephen R. Purdy, Frank Talamo, Joe Bellew, Chuck Skaggs, Ray McCullough and Joe Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stevie Purdy, Keith Pugh, Mike Pugh, Bennie Pugh and Joey White. Faith Chapel Funeral Home located on 1000 Highway 29 in Cantonment is in charge of all arrangements.
Willard Orion "W.O." Everette
ATMORE – Mr. Willard Orion "W.O." Everette, age 87 of Atmore, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in Bay Minette. He was the owner of W.O. Trucking, born in Finchburg on March 18, 1919 to the late Jesse Earl and Georgia Mae Tuberville Everette, Sr.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Everette, his son, Timothy Orion Everette, a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie, one brother, Joe Parnell Everette, two sisters, Quida Adell Callendar and Georgia Mae "Bobbie" Spain.
Survivors are: a daughter-in-law, Sandra W. Everette of Atmore; four brothers, Samuel Smith Everette of Bay Minette, Jessie Earl Everette, Jr. Charles Grover Everette and Gordon Eugene Everette all of Atmore; one sister, Alma Adalaide Miles of Atmore; two grandsons, Jareth and Dawn of Andalusia, Jason and Sandy of Atmore; six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Montz Quimby.
Services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Dukes and Bro. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends, Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of all arrangements.
Marion Maxine Williams
BAY MINETTE – Ms. Marion Maxine Williams, 71 of Bay Minette died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at her residence.
Richard L. Holt
FLOMATON – Mr. Richard L. Holt, 79, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Flomaton.
Mr. Holt was a native and lifelong resident of Flomaton. He was a member and deacon of Flomaton First Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a past owner of the Milky Way Restaurant and Richard Holt Home Builders.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances Holt of Flomaton; his son, Melvis Holt of Flomaton; his daughter, Diane and Milton McNease of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Brandon and Tanya Holt of Jay, Fla., Keith and Roberta Holt of Brewton, Brad Crawley of Greenville, S.C., Dr. Melissa and Harrison Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Vicki and Lee Barrentine of Brewton; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Holt, Matthew Holt, and Laura Holt all of Jay, Fla., Courtney and Allison Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Landan Barrentine of Brewton; three brothers, Leon and Grace Holt of Flomaton, C.P. "Pete" and Pat Holt of Pensacola, Fla., and Waymon and Bonnie Holt of Flomaton; and a sister, Doris and Jimmy Carden of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Flomaton First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jerry Keese and Rev. Dr. Tim McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2006 between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brandon Holt, Brad Crawley, Keith Holt, Harrison Smith, Lee Barrentine and Ryan Holt.
Herbert Gibson
STOCKTON – Mr. Herbert Gibson Sr., 70, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Gibson was a native of Atmore, a former resident of Ponchatoula, La., and a resident of Stockton for the past year. He was employed with the Union Brotherhood of Carpenters and Piledrivers #1846 and enjoyed fishing.
A son, Daniel C. Gibson and his parents, Elbert and Ida Grace Gibson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his son, Herbert Gibson, Jr. of Ponchatoula, La.; his daughter, Patsy Gibson Brady of Ponchatoula, La.; two stepsons, Michael Small of Marrero, La., and Kenneth Scott of Ponchatoula, La.; three grandchildren, Herbert Gibson, III of Ponchatoula, La., Tamula Grosskurth of Ponchatula, La., and Derek Grosskurth of Creola, Al. ; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Anthony Small and Austin Small; a sister, Bernice Gibson Defoe of Noblesville, Ind., Ricky Gibson of Stockton, Tony Gibson of Biloxi, Miss., Larry Gibson of Port O'Conner, Texas and Donald Gibson of Walnut Hill, Fla.; a special friend, Faye Singleton of Stockton; and two former wives, Jeanette Gibson and Patricia Gibson.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Gospel Light Church with Rev. Marty Gamble officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery.
Maybell Frances Lister
PERDIDO – Mrs. Maybell Frances Lister, age 75 of Perdido passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at a local nursing facility. Mrs. Lister was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ruby Lister, two sisters, Bessie Lister Odom, and Lillie Mae Mosley. Survivors include: two sisters, Gladys Burch of Deer Range and Bertie Blair of Robinsonville; and one brother, Ligey Lee Lister of Robinsonville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 12 p.m. from the Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will be at the Lottie New Home Cemetery in Lottie. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. Is in charge of arrangements.
