There will be a fresh face at the helm of the Escambia County High School girl's varsity basketball team next year. Current head coach Christy Nall announced Thursday at the basketball banquet that last year was her final year as coach of the Lady Blue Devils.
"I thought this job was right for me, but I guess other people thought differently," Nall said. "Being a coach takes the support of everyone involved with that sport and I didn't feel that was here any more. I want to go somewhere where I can be happy and where I can build a program."
Nall has received three offers for head girl's basketball coach from Foley High School, Andalusia Middle School and her alma mater, Opp High School.
"I can't do what I love anymore so I thought it was time to leave," Nall said.
Nall has been coaching at ECHS for eight years. She was the fast pitch softball coach from 1997-2002. She became the girl's basketball coach for the 2003-04 season and coached the Lady Devils to a 17-10 record in her final season as coach in 2005-06.
"We have accomplished a lot in three years and I hope they continue to grow as a team and as young ladies," Nall said. "I wish them the best for the future."
