Atmore remains under "no burn"
Atmore Fire &Rescue chief Gerry McGhee has issued a no burn ordinance for those within the city limits until further notice.
McGhee said the main factor in issuing the ordinance was because the city hasn't had any substantial rain in several weeks.
"It's going to be real dry, we're trying to be on the safe side," McGhee said. "We don't want anybody to lose any property"
BOE slated to meet at 4:30 tomorrow
The next regular school board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the Brewton Central Office.
Baysprings to hold gospel singing
Baysprings Full Gospel Church in Walnut Hill, Fla., will be hosting McPherson Bluegrass Gospel Group on Saturday, June 24 at 6 p.m.
All local singers are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the singing.

Commission slated to meet June 26
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201 at the Escambia County Courthouse.
Northview offers summer reading
Any student wishing to get extra credit in an English class at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, can stop by the guidance department or administrative department for a list of AR books by FCAT Reading level. New Home Church host gospel singing
"The Workmen Quartet" along with "Grateful Heart" will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville on Friday, June 30 at 7 p.m.
There is no admission charge but a love offering will be taken.

Atmore Area Christian Care gave food to 67 people last week. They are short on the following food items: Self Rising flour, Self Rising meal, chicken and dumplings and cooking oil.

Tax help for elderly June 28
Escambia County RSVP will have volunteers available to provide free assistance to those who have not completed their tax returns, are filing extensions, received a rejection, or need to file taxes from 2003 and 2004.
Services will be provided Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, June 28, 2006 and going until Tuesday, August 15, 2006.

American Heart classes at Kelley's
Kelley's Ambulance Service will be offering the following American Heart classes for July.
The class is approximately six hours and cost $25.

The third annual Taste of the South has been scheduled for Aug. 12, 2006 in Heritage Park.
The event is sponsored by the Leadership Atmore Class of 2004.
The Taste of the South is a great opportunity to bring together various vendors from Atmore and surrounding communities to enjoy the cultural cuisines that our great city and individual community members have to offer.
This event offers everyone the opportunity to taste great food, listen to great music, visit with neighbors, and enjoy a host of other activities.
All money raised will go back to the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce to assist them in promoting the city of Atmore.
For Taste of the South to be successful as in years past, sponsors are needed. Each sponsor will be recognized at the event.

The Wild Bunch Butt Burners will appear in a special program filmed in Atmore and Mobile on the Food Network beginning July 1 at 8 p.m.

A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making a stop in Atmore Wednesday, June 28.The representative will be available at Atmore City Hall between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
