The search for a new head basketball coach at Northview High School, after the resignation of former head coach Shane Reid earlier this month, is ongoing, said NHS principal Gayle B. Weaver.
Weaver said the search was going well until early Tuesday morning.
"We had been advertising the job online and we had an interview set up for (yesterday) and it was going great, but then the interviewee never showed up for the interview," Weaver said. "He was a very good prospect because he fit all of our needs. He was a special education teacher, he was knowledgeable about basketball football and baseball."
Weaver and Sammy Day, NHS athletic director, said the search will continue and they hope to fill the position before the school year begins next month.
Reid was the head basketball coach at NHS and he was also an assistant under Cody Keene on the football field and Sid Wheatley on the baseball diamond. Weaver said the assistant coach spot for the baseball team has been filled.
Joseph Chastain, a teacher from Pensacola, will report with the rest of the Northview teachers Tuesday.
"He went to college on a baseball scholarship and we are glad to have him on board here at Northview," Weaver said.
