ECPFA, Poarch F.D. to host 'boot drive'
The Escambia County Professional Firefighters Association will be sponsoring a "boot drive" on Saturday, Sept. 9 and has invited the Poarch Creek Volunteer Fire Department to join with them in raising money for Muscular Dystrophy (MDA) and Jerry's Kids.
The firefighters will be at the following locations beginning at 8 a.m.: Southern Family Markets, Winn-Dixie and Peebles.
Classical pianist Dino to perform
Dino, a christian classical concert pianist from Branson, Mo., and Trinity Broadcasting Network will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at L.D. Owen Performing Arts Center at Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette.
The concert is being presented by North Baldwin Community Concerts. Tickets are $15.

Retired teachers to meet Sept. 14
The regular meeting of the Esambia County Retired Teachers Association will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 14 at the Creek Family Restaurant in Atmore.
All education retirees, on any level, as well as other interested persons and anyone receiving a check from TRS of Alabama are invited to attend this very important meeting.
After the meeting a Dutch treat luncheon will be available for persons desiring lunch.
Beth Moore study to begin Sept. 26
The Atmore Community is invited to explore Beth Moore's newest study, "Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy", at the First Presbyterian Church beginning Tuesday, Sept 26. Join the group to study and examine both the life of the prophet Daniel and the prophetic teachings of the book.
The Tuesday morning sessions will meet 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. and childcare will be provided. An afternoon study will also be held on Wednesdays 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. This session will not provide childcare. The group will meet weekly to discuss the assignments and view Beth's video lectures. Cost for the workbook is $15.

Commission will meet Sept. 11
The Escambia County Commission will conduct a regular session meeting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 in the County Commission Chambers.
