The Escambia County Blue Devils are on the road two weeks straight and they have to travel more than 330 miles. First up for the Devils is AHSAA Class 6A Satsuma High School. Satsuma is 6-3 and riding a six-game win streak, but ECHS head coach Kyle Davis said he has a plan to shut them down.
"They have one guy who they will get the ball to a lot," Davis said. "And what we have to do is take away their best player. If we do that, we will have a chance to have a great game."
That one player is senior running back George Fluckum.
After the final game of the regular season, Atmore will travel to Fayette County High School for the opening round of the AHSAA Class 4A state playoffs.
The Devils are coming off a tough loss to Southside-Selma, but Davis said he is not worried about the morale of the players.
"Last week is last week," he said. "It was one game, we did not play well and I did not get them ready for the game. But it did not hurt us. We are still in the playoffs and our season is not over."
Davis said this game will be a big one for the Devils.
"This is a big game as far as momentum is concerned," Davis said. "We will have to come out ready to play and do what we have to do to win."
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Satsuma.
