Rachel Patterson Elementary School raised around $800 for Atmore's United Fund through a coin drive.
Susan McKenzie, principal at Rachel Patterson Elementary School, said that there was a contest between the boys and girls and that there were messy consequences for Ann Stephens, the resource teacher at Rachel Patterson.
"There was a contest between the boys and the girls," McKenzie said. "If the boys won, Ann was going to get a pie in the face and if the girls won, I was going to get a pie in the face."
The boys won and Stephens was the lucky one to receive the delicious gooey goodness of pie dripping down her clothes.
"She was a good sport," McKenzie said. "She took a pie in the face for a good cause."
The children were thrilled throughout the week, she said.
"The children were so excited about bringing pennies, dimes and nickels," McKenzie said. "It was a really exciting week."
Escambia County High School raised the most money with $1,000. Rachel Patterson came in second with their totals.
