The Escambia Academy Cougars track and field team traveled to Jay, Fla. for a track meet Thursday and came away with a second-place finish.
"I felt the meet went well," EA track and field head coach Heath Gibson said. "For how young we are, we did really well."
Jay High School, the host squad, won the event and Central High School came in third place. EA grabbed two individual events. Alan Ash won the two-mile run and Andrea Nall finished first in the 800-meter run. Tyler Harrison also finished second in the shot put and Thomas Moore came in third place in the long jump. Ash also placed second in the one-mile run with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 59 seconds.
"We have a lot of young talent and they all ran, jumped and threw hard out there," Gibson said.
The squad hosted a meet Saturday and the results will be in an upcoming Advance. Their next meet is scheduled for March 17 at home. The meet will begin at noon.
