The coalition against C&S Chemicals locating on Woods Road in Atmore holds a meeting every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at New Order Baptist Church.

Church hosts revival Sept. 24-28
Annual revival services of The Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church are slated Sept. 24-28 at 7 p.m. nightly. The guest minister for the week, the Rev. John Henry Williams Jr., with Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham.
"Dixie Echoes" in concert Sept. 27
"The Dixie Echoes" of Pensacola, Fla. will be in concert at The New Home Church near Monroeville, on Sept. 27. There will be no charge for admission, but a love offering will be received. The singing will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Johnson and the Rev. Thomas Smith invites everyone to attend.
New Home Church is located just north of U.S. Highway 84 between Repton and Monroeville.
GED given at Reid State Sept. 26-27
The GED test at Reid State will be held Sept. 26-27. The four parts (Writing/Essay, Social Studies, Science and Reading) of the GED test will be given.
All applicants must pre-register for the GED test. Registration is Sept. 24-25 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Building #100.
The GED test will be given Sept. 26-27 in Building #100. Applicants need to bring a picture ID and social security card.

'Prayer at the Pole' slated for Sept. 26

Academy's fall carnival slated Oct. 2
Escambia Academy will be holding its fall carnival Oct. 2 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
There will be a moonwalk, dunking booth, a country store, hayride, pony rides, raffle drawing, various games, food and a cakewalk. There will be a silent auction for furniture, a vacation getaway and much more.
Friday night dances at VFW open to public
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's Freedom Band. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment. Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.
Motorcycle ministry meeting Oct. 4
The Motorvators for Christ Motorcycle Ministry will have a meeting Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at David's Catfish in Brewton. The next Motorvators for Christ Motorcycle Ministry fellowship ride will be held Sept. 30 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. All who are interested in riding should meet in downtown Brewton in the parking lot at the boardwalk, behind the Bank of Brewton.

The Atmore SAIL Center will host a yard sale Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until noon at 300 E. Ridgely St., inside the building.
First Presbyterian to host reception
First Presbyterian Church will host a reception for its new minister, Rev. James Thorpe, and his family on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
The reception will be held in the church fellowship hall at 208 East Horner Street. The community is invited to come and join in welcoming the Thorpes to Atmore.
ECHS homecoming 2007 approaching
It's that time again. Escambia County High School Homecoming 2007 is approaching fast. This year's theme is "Bury the Tigers." Homecoming will be Oct. 8-12 and is going to be the best homecoming week yet. The Student Government Association would like graduated classes that ended with a "7" to join them at the Alumni Tea on Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. in the ECHS media center. Refreshments will be served. They would also like the alumni to stay and judge the annual homeroom door competition and be present at the homecoming pep rally.
Also, on Oct. 12, there will be a "Bury the Tigers" Homecoming Parade at 2:30 p.m. The parade route is to be announced. SGA would also ask that all past homecoming queens from any year come and represent their senior class at the homecoming game halftime show. Blood drive slated for Oct. 11 at City Hall
The Atmore Fire Department and the American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive Oct. 11 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The blood drive will be held in Atmore City Hall in the auditorium. All donors will receive a free T-shirt and two weeks of free tanning at Club Sun.

Concerned Citizens meet Saturdays
The Concerned Citizens of Atmore Civil Club meet every third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 313 N. Main St., which is the Unity House. The public is invited.
FBC participates in Christian Care
First Baptist Church Atmore will participate in the ministry of the Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry. Receptacles will be placed in the sanctuary for the donations and food items.
Atmore Library kicks off Wee Ones Program
The Atmore Public Library will host the Wee Ones Program on every Thursday at 10 a.m. Wee Ones follows the school year calendar.
County school system seeks information
In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) Part B of 2004, the Escambia County School System seeks to locate and identify children ages' birth through 21, who because of handicapping conditions, may be in need of special education and/or related services. Referral and evaluation may begin at 30 months for preschoolers.

Betty Warren tourney slated Oct. 27
We are having the First Annual Betty Warren Invitational Tennis Tournament on Williams Station Day, Oct. 27 starting at 9 am. There will be an A and B Division for both male and female. Play will be in a round robin format. The cost is $15 per player and each player will get a T-shirt. Awards will be made for the winners.
