Birthday, football mayhem

Although I am sure that Atmore was full of fun, festive times over the weekend, I had the opportunity to spend time with my family at my niece's 1-year-old birthday party Saturday and it was a blast.
My niece is very funny and intelligent for a 1-year-old. Of course I may be biased, but I truly believe she could be a genius. Every time I say "can I see your teeth?" she sticks her tongue out at me, she dances on-beat when music is playing and when asked "how old are you?" she sticks up one finger. That's pretty smart for a girl who just turned 1 last week.
The party was at the Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Brewton. My sister and her husband rented out the playground for two hours so the kids at the party could run around and have a good time. I consider myself as one of those kids. My boyfriend, Matt, and I were out there with all the children sliding down the slides like we were 10 again.
My niece got to open many birthday presents and she got a little angry when my sister would take away the bags the presents were wrapped in until she got another present to open.
We had burgers, chips and dip and all sorts of yummy treats. The most fun was watching my niece eat birthday cake and getting it all over herself. It was too cute.
I got to see both sets of my grandparents from Monroeville for the first time in months, which was very nice. I also got to visit with my aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that I never get to see unless it's a special occasion like Christmas.
After the party was over with it was a mad dash to a TV to finish watching the Alabama vs. Tennessee game. Although there was a radio playing just loudly enough to where we could get an update of the game at the party, it was still very sweet to sit down and watch Alabama beat Tennessee Saturday afternoon. And, since I have no football knowledge whatsoever, listening to a game on the radio is not something that is easy for me to do. I have to see a game to understand what is going on.
I cannot express how excited myself and my family were that Alabama won the Alabama vs. Tennessee game. My boyfriend, an Auburn fan, was even happy that the Tide won! Although, later that night he was not so excited when his Tigers could not beat LSU.
Needless to say, I had a great weekend in Brewton. Spending time with my family was enough to make me happy, but the Alabama win was icing on the cake.
I am looking forward to the upcoming event in Atmore, Williams Station Day. I have never attended the festival, but have heard nothing but good things about it. I am hoping that the weather is nice and that Atmore has a beautiful day of fun festivities.
