ATMORE - Mrs. Elizabeth (sister girl) Moore, 72, of Atmore died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Detroit, Mich.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

URIAH - Ms. Shirley Davis, 59, of Uriah passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at her residence.

Jesse Willard English
LOTTIE - Jesse Willard English, born Feb. 2, 1934, passed away at the University of South Alabama Hospital on Jan. 5, 2008. Jesse, a resident of Lottie was one of two children born to Alton “Tony” and Betty English in Blackshur. His parents, a sister Margaret Peavy and a granddaughter Beverly “Annie” Shiver all preceded her in death. Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Susana English of Lottie; children, Michael E. English (Delisa) of Tulsa, Okla.; Bruce A. English (Beverly) of Lottie; Terri E. Quinn (Kevin) of Glenview, Ill.; Valerie A. English of Gulfport, Miss.; Robert J. English (Rikki) of Booneville; and his only surviving aunt, Lila Gibson of Atmore; grandchildren, Joseph R. Portillo, Brittany A. English; Benjamin N. English; Ryan J. Quinn, Erin A. Quinn, Mary Ann Shiver, Patricia M. Shiver, Sean D. English, Payton J. English, Kolton J. English and 4 great granddaughters; nieces, Shelia Johnson, Sherry Lovell, Veronica Bernal, Patsy Vega and Carla Maez, nephews, Edwin “Sonny” Vega, Ronnie Vega, George Sanchez Jr. and Gerald Sanchez, brother-in-law Frank Vega (Ticha) and sister-in-law Martha Sanchez (George). Jesse retired from the U.S. Army in 1972 as a Chief Warrant Officer, after a long and distinguished career. As a Veteran, he represented the state of Alabama in Washington D.C. during the dedication of the Vietnam War Memorial. As the highest ranking officer from Alabama, Jesse led the Alabama contingent during the dedication ceremony. During his military service he was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He saw service in Japan, Taiwan (Formosa), France, Germany, Thailand and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement from the military, Jesse and his family New Mexico until the fall of 1980 and then moved to Baldwin County. Jesse worked as a Master Plumber for 28 years.
Pallbearers were Bill McLeod, Wayne McLeod, Charles Stedham, Bryant Jenks, Ronald “Ronnie” Vega and Greg McKinley. Honorary pallbearers were David McLeod, Thomas Jenks, Kennie Jenks and Wiley “Ray” Jenks.
Visitation was held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2008 at the Johnson- Quimby Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, 2008 at St. Robert Bellarmine. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery with full Military Honors.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Annie Mae Welch Hollinger
URIAH - Mrs. Annie Mae Welch Hollinger, 66, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at a Mobile Hospital.
Mrs. Hollinger was a native of Eliska, a lifelong resident of Uriah, a retired employee from Vanity Fair Mills after 25 years and attended the Uriah United Methodist Church. Her husband, Gladden “Horse” Hollinger, two sons, James Larry Hollinger and Thomas Eugene Hollinger and a daughter Tabitha Hollinger all preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating. Burial followed at Uriah cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Mark Boone, Bobby Freeman, Albert Williams, Carl Ray Williams, Tony Rider and Randal Jernigan.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Williams, Jacob Williams and John Wayne Chavies.
Pauline Brantley Hubbard
NOKOMIS - Mrs. Pauline Brantley Hubbard, 76, passed away Monday, Jan.7, 2008 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Hubbard was a native of Brewton and a resident of Nokomis for the past 51 years, a retired employee from Monsanto after 31 and half years, and avid gardener of Day Lillie’s, especially, and attended the Nokomis Baptist Church. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 51 years Stephen B. “Buck” Hubbard of Nokomis; her son, Kenneth and Darlene Thompson of Brewton; three grandchildren, Michelle Hutchins, Stephani Mullins and Kristin Kennedy all of Brewton; three great grandchildren, Hunter Mullins, Miles Powell and Matthew Hutchins all of Brewton; a brother-in-law Wayne and Linda Hubbard of Nokomis; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hubbard Johnson of Perdido; a number of nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Deloris Ryals of Atmore.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. C.L. Langford and Rev. Michael Soobe officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ray Capps, David Brantley, Gary Brantley, Darik Brantley, Ralph Tucker, and Todd Hubbard.
Lottie Lee Johnson
EL PASO, TX - Lottie Lee Johnson was born on Feb. 6, 1921 to Rafe and Roseanna Johnson. She was one of nine children born to Rafe and Roseanna, (seven girls and two boys). She had attended Escambia County Training School in Atmore. She lived and worked in Newark, NJ for over 30 years and later retuned to Atmore in July 1984 after retiring and joined Cross Point Baptist Church in Atmore. In 2003 she moved to El Paso, Texas to be near her son and daughter-in-law Annie Ruth Reynolds-Johnson. The book of life was closed for Ms. Lottie L. Johnson on Dec.28, 2007. Her parents, two brothers, Porter Johnson and Cassie Johnson, five sisters, Ida Mae Jones, Lucile Bernice Johnson, Alice Higgins, Olivett J. Snowden and Hertha Mae Snowden all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her fond memories of her life, one son, Elmo(Annie Ruth) Johnson, two grandchildren, Renato (Noemi)Johnson and Tracy(David) Jones, six great grandchildren, Anneesah, Jawhar, Khalid, Anastasia, Jullian X and Nadia Trinity, one sister, Ola Barnes, one sister-in-law, Eunice Clemmons-Johnson of Atmore, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
