The fight for Miss NHS 2008 was on Saturday night as 25 girls competed to become the new queen of the school.
Junior Chelsea Sims battled her way to the top, taking home the crown along with bragging rights as Miss Northview High School.
First runner-up in the competition was junior Amber Holland and second runner-up was junior Summer Sanders. The other two ladies in the Top 5 were freshman Katie Mann and junior Shakeria White.
Holland also was awarded Miss Physical Fitness. The title of Miss Congeniality was awarded to junior Ashley Snow and sophomore Tiffany Barrows won Miss Hospitality. Junior Ashley McGhee kept her composure during the competition, allowing her to take home the Miss Poise and Appearance accolade.
Pageant director Anna Barry said she has enjoyed working with the many young ladies in the competition.
"It really has been a pleasure working with each of the 25 contestants," Barry said last week. "They are all unique individuals who each have something special to bring to this year's pageant. I know it is supposed to be a competition, but I think of them as a team. By working together, we are able to put on quite a show for the audience."
The other competitors included, seniors Ashleigh Rooks and Caitlin Spence; juniors Samantha Merritt and Olivia Bryan; sophomores Felicia Settle, Kolbi Cobb, Allison Spence, Heather Ward, Magen Weekley and Haley Knapp and freshmen Tori Chavers, Kayla Hall, Brooke Tullis, Lauren Cloud, Ande Gideons, Blaze Green and Alicia Holland.
