Lambert likes spending time with family
(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 92-year-old Ruby Lee Lambert. Lambert enjoys watching “Animal Planet” and watching her great great grandson Britton play.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born on Oct. 15, 1915 at home in Pinedale, which is now Freemanville.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: My dad was George Woods Jr. and my mom was Ollie Payne.
Q: Where were they from?
A: He was from Pinedale and she was from Bay Minette.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: There are 12 of us total. I have eight brothers and three sisters. The brothers passed away and some of my sisters did, too.
Q: Where did you attend high school and college?
A: Freemanville in a one room school house where I completed the third grade.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: No. I did go to Miami once.
Q: What jobs have you held?
A: Staying at home working, I used to work in the fields at home. I picked cotton, corn and velvet beans.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Yes, when I was 18 in 1933.
Q: What’s your husband’s name?
A: D.C. Lambert. He passed away in 1979.
Q: Where was he from?
A: Little River.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: Yes, four.
Q: What are their names?
A: Frances, Edward, Sherrel and Norman.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: Six boys and one girl.
Q: Do you have any great grandchildren?
A: There are 11 total, eight boys and three girls.
Q: What about great great grandchildren?
A: Two, Britton and Braleigh.
Q: Do you attend church?
A: I used to.
Q: Where did you attend?
A: Trinity Episcopal Church.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Sitting down and going to bed.
I like to watch “Animal Planet” and to watch my great great grandson Britton play.
Q: How old is Britton?
A: He’ll be 3 in April.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: Nothing. I am a very very picky eater. I eat chicken noodle soup a lot.
Q: What were some of your hobbies?
A: Plowing horse and plowing mule.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: I’ve never smoked, never dipped, done anything like that.
And, live for the Lord.
