The trip to Greenville for a baseball game against the Fort Dale Eagles left a little to be desired for the Escambia Academy Cougars.
The Cougars (0-2) lost 14-1 in five innings and did not get a hit all game. Freshman Gavin Salter scored the lone run for the Cougars as a courtesy runner for senior pitcher Tyler Brown.
Fort Dale scored three in the first inning, seven in the third inning and four in the fifth inning for the win.
EA head coach Heath Gibson said the team is just not hitting the ball yet.
"We had only two errors in the game and we have played sound defense so far this year, but we had nothing at the plate," he said.
Brown (0-2) took the loss, allowing 10 runs, eight earned on five hits in three innings. He walked six batters and struck out four. Sophomore Jon Dean threw two innings on the mound, allowing four runs, three earned on four hits. He had one strikeout.
The Cougars participated in the Patrician Tournament Friday and Saturday and the results will be in an upcoming Advance. Up next for EA is a home game against Cottage Hill Tuesday. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
