The time has come for Atmore area residents to enjoy the inaugural “An Evening with the Arts” event tomorrow night.
Vikki Day, owner of Day Gallery, along with the Atmore Visual Arts Association (AVAA) and Artists in Communities South (AIC South) are bringing a night of entertainment to Atmore while showcasing many pieces of art with “An Evening with the Arts.”
AIC South’s Becca Horne has taken on the project with Day.
There will be many artists showcased from many different areas of the United States, from Mobile to Pensacola, Fla. and even North Carolina.
Artwork created by the six artists will be displayed in the Day Gallery for one month, Horne said.
The Day Gallery and several other businesses will be open during the event in order to showcase their products along with many different types of art.
There will be approximately 45 artists at the event and each one is limited to five pieces. There will be many types of art on display also including sculptures, paintings, photography, stained glass, jewelry, folk art, charcoal art and Native American art.
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce is also involved in this night of art. The Chamber’s Business After Hours will be held in conjunction with the event at the Day Gallery. The Business After Hours will begin at 5 p.m.
Also at the event will be Delores Gibson. She will be storytelling as the “Barefoot Poet.” Singer/songwriter Heath Needham, 17, will also provide entertainment. Singer Grayson Capps is tentatively scheduled to be in attendance.
Admission to the Ridgeley Street event is free and everyone is invited.
Business After Hours will begin at 5 p.m. at Day Gallery tomorrow night. The event will end at 8:30 p.m.
