Northview High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter held its 13th annual Food for America Program last Thursday, allowing hundreds of elementary aged students to see exactly where what they eat comes from.
The purpose of the Food for America Program is for youngsters to realize the importance of agriculture.
There were many participants in this year’s Food for America Program, including Florida Department of Agriculture Honey Inspector, local beekeepers, EREC, Pine Ridge Farms, University of Florida, Florida Division of Forestry, Escambia County Farm Bureau, Northview and Ernest Ward FFA members, Hendrix Tractor Company, Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department, NHS FFA alumni and friends, Florida FFA Association, Northview 4-H/Farm Safety, Escambia County Extension Agency, National Resource Conservation Service, Stewart Grist Mill and Escambia County Parks and Recreation.
There were many schools that attended the event including, Bratt Elementary, Byrneville Charter Elementary, Century Elementary, Holm Elementary, Jay Elementary, Lipscomb Elementary, Molino Park Elementary and Pensacola Beach Charter Elementary.
