Atmore mayor Howard Shell, Soil &Water Conservation district supervisor Kent McGhee, district administrative coordinator Chasity Pettis and NRCS district conservationist Detra Boutwell recently reviewed the Pine Barren Creek Watershed Plan.
The Pine Barren Creek Watershed Plan outlines work of improvement that will relieve flooding in the Pine Barren Creek Watershed. The plan is available for public review and comment for a 45-day period. Interested persons may view the plan at City Hall, the Soil &Water Conservation District Office, the Brewton Public Library or the Atmore Public Library.
Construction for the plan is anticipated to begin late summer. Funding for this project is provided by the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.
