Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers of Atmore passed away in Pensacola, Fla., on April 5 at the age of 87.
Residing in Atmore most of his life, he was born in Columbus, Ga., on Sept. 1, 1920, to Frank Rogers and Priscilla Benford.
Rodgers served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly 24 years retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. After his discharge, he returned to Atmore and was employed by Masland Carpets as a security guard for more than 20 years. Rodgers was a member of the Atmore Chamber of Commerce for a number of years and was a founding trustee of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Reaves of Glendale, Ariz., David Ephraim Jr. of Atlanta, Andrew Rodgers of Jacksonville, Ark. and Scottie Rodgers of West New York, N.J.; two daughters, Roslanda (Michael) Henderson of Atmore and Mechelle (Larry) Forney of Atmore; two grandsons, Markief Wright and Timothy (T.J.) McReynolds, both of Atmore; two granddaughters Tiffany McReynolds of Atmore and Lisa Austin of Bay Minette; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Rodgers of Bay Minette.; three nephews, Larry Rogers of Baltimore, Md., Phil Rogers of Bronx, N.Y. and Elbert “Flash” Rogers Jr. of Atmore; two nieces, Elaine Rogers of Bronx, N.Y. and Vivan Rogers of Manhattan, N.Y. and numerous other extended family and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, April 11 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. The memorial service was Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore.
Burial followed in Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore.
George David Daw
ATMORE - George David Daw, 61, a loving husband and loyal friend, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Daw.
Survivors include, his wife, Elaine Daw; a sister, Barbara Johnson of Grand Bay; three sons, Richard Daw of El Dorado, Kan., David Daw of Meridian, Miss. and Michael Daw of Texas; one daughter, Karen Rice of Atmore; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Family received friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Radney Funeral home in Saraland with funeral services held at noon in the Radney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Church cemetery in Wawbeek. Active pallbearers were Gwen Hendricks, Glen Barrington, Ray Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Daniel Johnson and Jerry Daw.
Audrey Faye Blair
ATMORE - Audrey Faye Blair, 73, of Atmore died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Atmore.
She was a seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills, born in Canoe on Aug. 2, 1934 to the late Aubrey Olson and Emily Jewell Chessar Smith.
Her husband, Edward Blair; a son, Randy Allen Slay and a daughter, Audrey Diane Powell preceded her in death.
Survivors include, three sisters, Emily Boler and Rita Horlacher (Doug), both of Pensacola, Fla. and Delores Jean Babula of Flomaton; a son-in-law, Lynn Powell of Wawbeek; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services were held Friday, April 11, 208 in Serenity Gardens with Bro. John Hammond officiating.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
Bessie Mae Brock
ATMORE - Mrs. Bessie Mae Brock, 87, of Atmore died Friday, April 11, 2008 at her residence.
Viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore will be in charge of arrangements.
