Firefighters with the Atmore Fire Department were busy early this morning battling a totally involved house fire on Carver Avenue near Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.
According to neighbors, the home was abandoned and the fire broke out at approximately 1:20 a.m. A motorist driving past the home notified the Atmore Police Department of the fire and the dispatcher immediately paged out the fire personnel.
Approximately eight firemen responded to the scene. Officers with the APD also responded, blocking off the roadway to passing motorists.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
