The Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church honored the Rev. Willie Hawthorne and wife, Carolyn, at a Fifth Year Pastor’s Anniversary celebration Sunday evening.
In the church’s program, Hawthorne said it has been a blessing to be a part of Greater Mt. Triumph for five years.
Carolyn Hawthorne said she could not express how pleased she is to be at the church.
During the celebration the Greater Mt. Triumph Inspirational Voices sang in the Hawthornes’ honor. Also, the Bethel Baptist Church, located in Monroeville, choir sang as the host choir.
Dr. Ulysses McBride delivered reflections about the past five years that the Hawthornes have been a part of the church. McBride said the past five years were a “long, rough and rocky road.” But, McBride said he is delighted Hawthorne is pastor at the church, despite the challenges endured.
The Rev. Ywell Cunningham of Bethel Baptist Church delivered the message during the event.
