Rivercane, Atmore’s 643-acre commercial development off Interstate 65, received some state attention during the Economic Developers Association Summer Conference in Orange Beach earlier this week.
The City of Atmore was recognized for “their significant” contributions made to the economic and community development during the conference held at the Perdido Beach Resort. An award was presented to Escambia County Industrial Development Authority executive director Marshall Rogers during a luncheon held Monday.
Communities were judged on innovativeness, transferability, community commitment, measured objectives and secondary benefits, according to Rogers.
In October, information on Rivercane will be presented during the Southern Economic Development Conference in Hot Springs, Va. at the Homestead Resort. Atmore will compete against other communities in their population category throughout 16 states and will be recognized at the conference for their efforts to develop and promote the Atmore community.
Rogers will return today from the conference.
