The upcoming 2008 season marks a big change for the Escambia County Blue Devil football team.
The Blue Devils move up from class 4A to 5A and with this jump comes a new crop of opponents.
Head football coach Kyle Davis said that it would be different and tough this season for his team with a strong group of opponents in their region.
Davis acknowledged that each opponent brings a great program to the field.
He said that some of the opponents the Blue Devils have played and some they have not, but they will try and find ways to win.
Davis added some games might have more importance on them, but his players would take each game one at a time.
The Blue Devils play two 6A opponents, visiting Baldwin County in Bay Minette and Robertsdale coming to Atmore.
Davis said there are reasons behind playing teams from different classes whether they be lower or higher.
He added that it helps a team especially if they are preparing for a big game.
Davis said he could not predict the outcome of the Blue Devils season, but wants his team to take it game-by-game.
He added that every year they have goals and this year the goal is to win a playoff game.
ECHS opens up with T.R. Miller on Aug. 29.
