Balls were driven and putted on June 27 as the Holman Correctional Facility hosted their second annual Alabama Department of Corrections Employee Support Fund to help raise money for employees who might be in need of financial assistance.
Capt. David Craft said that the tournament went well and raised a decent amount of money for the fund.
Only the first place team and the longest drive winner were awarded cash prizes while the closest to the pin won a new putter, according to Craft.
Alabama Department of Corrections regional coordinator Roy Hightower led the first place team. His teammates included Morris Williams, Sam Price and Jimmy Glenn. The winning team shot a 63 and was rewarded with $250, which Hightower gave back to the Employee Support Fund.
The Correctional Medical Services team shot a 65 to finish in second place. Reggie Collier, Bobby Crocker, Tom Dolan and Grant Roberts were the members of the CMS team.
Craft said that a Holman correctional officer won the longest drive.
Grant Roberts of the CMS team won the closest to the pin competition and received a new putter as a prize.
Craft said that he was pleased with the turnout for the tournament and hopes it continues to grow in the future.
