Hall enjoys tending to her flowers

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights Hazel Hall.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Repton in 1930.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: Carl and Missye Brown.
Q: What did your parents do for a living?
A: Dad and mom worked for the state in the forestry service.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I had one brother and three sisters. My brother was the late Carl H. Brown Jr. My sisters are the late Joyce Brown and Helen Ross and Nelda Brown, who are both living.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I attended school in Huxford, McCullough and Bay County High School. I have my GED.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: No, I do very little traveling.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I worked for the Escambia County Health Department in Atmore for 22 years. I also worked 13 years at the Greenlawn Hospital.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: Atmore most all my life, but I moved a lot when I was little living in Huxford, McCullough and Wallace.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: It’s just home and good country living.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Yes, I was married to Heron Hall. He was a handsome man with good morals. He could also dance he was the “Fred Astaire” of Atmore.
Q: Do you have children?
A: Yes, I have three daughters. I also have six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with another one on the way, due in November.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Coming to the SAIL Center, doctor visits and tending to my flowers.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: I like butterbeans, peas, corn and chicken. Just good country food.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: I attend First United Methodist Church.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Don’t smoke, don’t drink, go to church and live right. Treat your body good because it’s the only one that God blessed you with.
